Room smelled like mold and decades of cigarettes, we reserved a room for 4 and there was no bedding for the extra bed and no staff to help us. We walked around the entire hotel looking for a supply closet, and all we could find was extra pillow cases so we had to bundle up with 10 pillow cases and all of our clothes to sleep. The water smelled like sulfur and wouldn’t get hot. There was a towel heater though so that was cool

Snoke and weed
No reception, had to ring to get access code that didn't work. Loads waiting to check in. Heating way too high. Work up to the smell of cigarette smoke and weed all over the hotel

Ok for the price
Did the job for one night . Decor is pretty awful grey black and sparkly! Spacious room would have been stunning over a hundred years ago not so glamorous now!

Not happy at all, false advertising, booked a double room was given 2 uncomfortable beds with a filthy chair in the middle, I have pictures. The room don’t look any closer to what’s they are advertising, maybe that’s their dream to get there but it will take them years. There was no hot water to shower in the morning. The hallway is filthy. Happy to share pictures if needed. The only good point was secure car park and the bedding appeared clean.

No drinks in room? But 1/2 bottle of scotch found in room, left by cleaner. Renovation ongoing, no food or bar available. Security deposit required, no receipt given, refunded on departure. Reasonable budget accommodation but needs updating.

DIRTY! DIRTY! DIRTY! but friendly receptionist
The receptionist was really friendly and gave lots of concessions but as soon as I got to my room started noticing the horror, I was weary to unpack, the toilet had "doo" smeared in it with dried wee stain on the floor, there was blood and other stains on the bedroom wall and I am not sure the bedding was changed, I made a call and a quick overall of the room was made, the rug also had crumbs all over it, the head board was extremely dirty and I had to ask for an extra sheet to throw over it. Unfortunately my friend who stayed in a more upgraded room could not take a shower because the hot water did not work. The hotel looked abandoned from the outside, the pictures online does not do any justice to reality. The WiFi didn't work in my room and was unstable at the reception area whenever it did connect, the house managers looked really unkempt with their cleaning aprons looking dirty from dried sweat or liquid. Never written a negative review before but wish someone had let me know about these flaws before I booked the hotel. Thanks

£50 security deposit…
About what you’d expect for the money, but whiffy in places. Did NOT a expect to have to pay a £50 “security deposit” that cost more than the room. Did not expect the room to be as hot as the sun, but at least there was a fan!

The photos look good, don't be fooled (as i was). very scruffy, a hair in my bed, dirty marks all over the walls and threadbare carpet... a can of cider and hypodermic syringe outside my bedroom window. it also smelled pretty bad. this hotel needs a complete refurbish or knocking down

Yes I only paid £47.00 on a saturday night with free parking but this place should not be marketing themselves as a hotel. It is nothing more than a hostel within a dilapidated building that is way past renovating. The whole of the hotel appears closed other than the reception area. The reception guy was polite enough and helpful but my first room had not been cleaned, waste not removed and no toilet paper. Obviously the housekeeper had had enough and gone home early. So I was offered an upgrade at no extra cost !. The difference was it had been cleaned and had a double bed. They take a deposit for any damages. There is nothing worth damaging or take if anyone is that way inclined. Ok paid my deposit...PDQ machine not working so can I go to the bank over the road and withdraw money? This I did and left the £50 security depopsit. In the the morning, upon my departure, got my £50 back and left. Nobody checked the room just to make sure I hadn't had any wild party's and smshed the kettle! What was the point of the deposit procedure?? This place is a dump and am surprised Hotels.Com want to market it through the website.

Disappointing stay.
A disappointing stay. The photos on Hotels.com are completely misleading, nothing like our room or my brother’s. Whilst we appreciate that the hotel is to be refurbished the room had not been cleaned properly and a cotton bud from a previous occupant was by the bed, the room was not cleaned during our stay. There were only towels for one person (we asked for more but not provided), one mug and no milk with the coffee facilities. We only managed to park in the car park in one night out of three. We have not had our £50 deposit refunded from Payman Club.

This hotel was terrible. When we arrived we were given keys to our room but when we went in there were already other guest in there. The person on reception was new and very polite but struggled to help. We spoke to ‘customer service’ on the phone who was rude, unhelpful and sounded drunk. In the end we had to drive to another city an hour away in the middle of the night to find somewhere to sleep (with our young children). It was also dirty and unkempt in general. We saw another guest come down to reception and ask if he could ‘at least have some toilet paper’. I would say this place is barely functioning, Wotif should stop promoting it.

Last resort hotel
Hotel is in a very sorry state, sign says refurbishment in progress but to be honest close it and carry out the refurb. Smelly bathroom no extraction also light not working no tea or coffe. On arrival had to wait 30 min before they eventually found reservation even then kept questioning if I had paid, showed them Hotel.com receipt. £128 for the night try£50. Plenty of othe guest complaining baout the rooms to receptionist

This was a very disappointing experience totally
This was worst hotel we have ever visitrd externally the hotel didn't look welcoming when you went to the reception there was only one staff member in the entire hotel which raised security concern. The rooms were smelly with alot of flies and decor not very good we got ripped off for a room not worth it We paid £83.00 to hotel. Com wirh an additional £50.00 deposit to refunded up to 10 days later we could not make itcany worse than what it was also my brother booked the same hotel directly and was charged £45.00 for the same double room we had and £50.00 refundable deposit two other guests who booked on hotel.com demanded a refund as the conditions were so poor and unbearably disappointing. I recorded the staff members regarding the condition of the hotel.and they also agreedcit should not be open to the public.as a healrh & Safety representative. I was disgusted.loose wiring and loads of hazards.

There was no wifi in the rooms. One of our rooms did not have a remote control for the TV. The kettle lead was too short and i had to more the table to plug it in.

Never again !
The cleanliness of the hotel was awful, their was hairs and dirt in the bed. Along with mould on the Walls and radiators that were not working. I paid for a king bed and they gave two singles pushed together , I nearly fell in-between the bed. The bathroom was wasn't much better with bugs crawling in the bath tub. I went and complained to reception and got given three different room to look at not one of them had an actual king bed. And I chose the one room without mould but it had a crooked floor. Whilst I was complaining the receptionist decided to express his feeling about another customer in a distasteful mannor whilst the bloke was standing their, awful customer service.

You get what you pay for
To say it is 3* is a push, I've stayed in better equiped hostels. That said it was cheap and booked last minute so you get what you pay for. It is also a convenient location for my need on the day. A bit of money and care could make it a really nice hotel.

Large room 🙂
Check in was very slow. My room was lovely and large. Decor in need of refreshing but a good room. Would suggest swapping the position of the bed with the table so it's easier to watch the TV or put an armchair in the room though as the dining chairs no good to relax in.
