"Staying in an actual castle was a dream come true for this soon to be 50 year old! The room was amazing and staff were phenomenal. The food was terrific - both the basement restaurant and the breakfast room. We only stayed one night due to our busy schedule but would've loved to stay and enjoy the beautiful grounds. "The hotel was lovely, the location was excellent. We had a view of the castle out of our window! We used the pool and it was clean and a nice temperature. The only issue we had was the heat. The hotel was incredibly hot, the windows were not easy to open and didnt open more than a couple of cms. I believe this is a wider issue around the UK not just at this hotel but thats why I rated 4/5"

"We were upgraded to a larger room and had early check in. The room was really nice, clean, comfy bed, and well laid out. You couldn’t ask for a more ideal location. One of us fell ill and the concierge team was exceptional - locating a doctor to come to our room, while checking in on us our entire stay. A top notch hotel, with some really cool public spaces and a pretty good bar."

"I loved this hotel. Excellent staff and a very comfortable bedroom with a four poster bed to the front of the property. The guest lounge with its roaring fire was very welcome after a long day. I would have liked a lined blind or curtain for the bathroom which could have provided more privacy from the road. Parking here is a real bonus and the buses for the city centre stop are just a short walk away. I would love to revisit this hotel when next in Edinburgh."

"The staff at the Abbey are excellent, by far the best part about the stay. Very friendly with each encounter and extremely accommodating. We had several bags with us, and they made our check-in and check-out much easier by going out of their way to support. The room itself is satisfactory; it is about what you pay for. Nothing too extraordinary, but more than sufficient for what we needed it for. Although the bathroom wasn’t terribly well maintained, and the shower didn’t drain very well. Housekeeping was great; they came regularly and did a great job keeping the room to a high standing of cleanliness. The accommodation is also quite accessible to the city centre through both the 3 and the 29, which come quite frequently. Since there is no kitchen, having a Co-Op across the road is quite handy. Also close to some nice walking trails."

"We were coming in late, so I called ahead. The front desk was very accommodating even though we arrived after they were closed. They left our keys for us clearly marked. The room was wonderful and the bed was spacious. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. Our room had the old-style skeleton key so if you are not used to that it might be good to brush up on how to use it before you arrive. We've experienced that a few times in the UK so it was OK for us."
