"Despite how it looks on the outside, this is a very nice hotel. The outside looks rough and needs some attention, but our room was lovely. If you have heavy luggage, be aware that you have to bring it up several stairs to reach the lobby (there is no ramp or lift - the stairs are the only way). The breakfast was good, the people were pleasant, and the amenities were fine. The standout feature of this hotel is the location. Oban is a really lovely town and this hotel is right across from the harbor."

There are also house rules which, while understandable, felt rather strict and perhaps took away slightly from the relaxed atmosphere one might hope for when staying at an inn. Overall, the property itself is attractive and well cared for, but for us the hospitality did not quite reach the level suggested by its five-star rating."
