1st room assignment had not been cleaned. A new room was quickly assigned and satisfactory
Our room was very clean and well decorated. The reception area was very cute with snacks, water and coffee available. Will definitely stay there again.
Always love staying at Big Horse Inn. It's such a beautiful place. Clean, comfortable and the owner is so nice and friendly. We will always stay here when in the area.

Lovely place to stay
Very unique hotel! Rooms are large clean and comfortable! This is a hidden gem! This place is even better than the pictures. I would absolutely stay again
Beautiful place to stay. Quiet and comfortable! Clean. The small coffee shop that serves lunch and breakfast is definitely worth visiting. Exceptional!
For being in such a rural setting, Big Horse Inn and Suites was outstanding. My room was nice and clean when I arrived. The owner was present every day and both her and her helpers were very accommodating. I will definitely use this lodging again.
There was self check in, that was great. The room was clean and artfully decorated. The coffee in the morning was great, reception was so very pleasant! Kudos!!!
We enjoyed this small town stay very much! We were traveling in our show car and felt it a safe place. The building was well maintained and inside clean with wonderful country decor. Guessing they are extremely covid safe- it was self check-in and out- never did meet any staff? They have a cute coffe & sandwich shop, Casey's across the Street, and a wonderful hometown cafe across the stree as well.
Although the front desk was not staffed when we arrived, the keys to our rooms, along with the check-in documents, were on the desk waiting for us. I liked that.
This is a really nice place once you find it. It look like a large structure turned into a really nice hotel on the inside. There’s only a couple things I didn’t like. The first thing I didn’t like is there is no one at the desk to greet you or even tell you goodbye in the morning l. With that being said I got there at 10:15pm and there was a paper on the counter with my name on it and a key for the room. I don’t know how safe of a place this is but evidently it’s safe. When I went to leave in the morning around 10am. There was still no one at the counter with 3 other people’s name and room key just sitting on the desk. So NO customer service. The second thing I didn’t like is there is no microwave in the room to heat up food. Seeing how I’m on the road all of the time I like to take food with me to eat. I had to go down the street to Casey gas station and get some food heated up there to bring back to the room. On 100% positive note the place was spotless and smelled like a log cabin. The room was set up very rustic and I loved it too. The best part is the bed had a quilt on it and reminded me of going to granny’s house. The room was very large as well. I would recommend this place to anyone. Just would give them the heads up about customer service.
Big Horse Inn is such a nice place to stay. We were in town to visit with family in Havana. Big Horse was a perfect place for us and a few other family members to stay.
The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The coffee bar/snacks were well stocked. We appreciated the open area for visiting.
While the Inn was EXCELLENT, the nearby dining choices were limited. The attached coffee shop, Black Maple Coffee, and the Mexican restaurant down the road had positive reviews from family members.
Taken by surprise. Wasn't expecting much with it being in a town of less than 500 but was pleasantly surprised! I will highly recommend for the next trip to Spoon River Speedway and hope to rent to the whole place for my team
Big Horse Inn is a hidden gem in this part of Illinois. It is perfectly located, close to Dickson Mounds (great hiking trails), Emiquon National Wildlife Refuge, and the Illinois/Spoon River area. The room was spacious and the bed was comfy. Self check-in could not have been easier. Don't miss the attached Black Maple coffee shop for delicious breakfast and lunch options (and coffee, of course). The inn is within easy walking distance of a traditional small-town diner, Casey's, and Dairy Queen, so plenty of options for any dining budget!
Room was spotless. Area was very quiet and dark (in a good way — better for sleeping). Complimentary snacks in lobby was thoughtful. There were some insects in the room — tiny ant-like critters that wouldn't go away and a spider in the sink. Surprising because the room was so clean.
We liked the unique room furnishings. It had a great shower and bathroom. The bed was comfortable.
It did seem more like a bed and breakfast rather than a motel. Our key and reservation were on the counter to sign and then go to our room. We saw no one until we checked out. The keurig did not work, but we enjoyed the snacks left there for us to take. The walls seemed thin and our next door neighbors were loud until midnight. Overall it was a nice place to stay.
Clean & nice decor.
Good shower.
Comfy bed.
Self check in/out. Didn't see anyone at either.
After a long drive it would be good to have a coffee/tea machine.
No breakfast option.
Fridge is a bit noisy.
We are originally from Lewistown and were in town visiting family for the holidays, so booked a room at Big Horse Inn. It was the second time I’ve stayed there, but the first for my sister.
The rooms are very comfortable, and extra clean. Shoot out to the housekeeping staff for keeping it in such great condition. We had a great stay. The only minor thing was I wished the bathroom had better lighting or a lighted makeup mirror so I could see better to put in contacts, put on makeup, etc. Not a deal killer, just would be nice.
I’m so glad our hometown has a nice place to stay, especially since our parents have a small home with only one bath, so it gets crazy with all the family there. Nice to have a quiet, comfortable retreat like Big Horse Inn.
