“The morning coffee in the outdoor lobby was good. ”

“Overall loved the location and amenities. Staff was also great. Only issue in our room is it needs a bed/mattress replacement. I felt like I was laying on different levels of plywood. Caused some back discomfort. ”

“The hotel is located in a bad, sketchy area and I did not feel safe during my stay. The room lacked basic amenities such as a safe, microwave, glasses, and tea/coffee facilities. The shower water temperature fluctuated between cold and warm, with very poor water pressure, and there was no shampoo provided. Additionally, there were problems with the electricity. ”

“The view is incredible. That is the last of my compliments. Hot water ran out after about 6 minutes. The power on the island went out almost every night which is terrible for someone who has to use a CPAP to sleep. It seemed as though all of the units around us had generators. If we had one it was never brought to our attention. We had no way to exit the compound because the gate would only open from the outside. This could be an issue if there is an emergency and you can't get out. We……

“The room was very clean and had great amenities. The staff were incredibly friendly. The space is beautiful and charming. Bartender and Restaurant staff were exceptional and the food was amazing. My only piece of feedback would be to add some lounge chairs near the pool. But next time I come back to St Thomas there is no doubt I’m staying at Hotel 1829! ”

“Do NOT plan to arrive early to this hotel or be treated kindly. We arrived around 3:00 pm knowing that check in is at 4 pm, but most hotels can accommodate an early check in if the rooms are ready. We explained that we would like to check in so we could freshen up prior to our 4:30 pm cab pickup and dinner reservation at 5 pm. The front desk person didn’t even look at her computer and told us check in is at 4. When 4:00 arrived so did the line of people. We had to change our reservation and……

“I ended up in the same room I was in for Christmas. It was very clean and well stocked with towels and shampoos. Nice big screen tv and cold fridge and freezer. The grounds are older, but well kept up. It's a struggle keeping afloat on the islands and this resort is no different. The staff was excellent and very helpful. I know they would appreciate your support! I've lived on St. John for over 30 years so I know how hard it is to turn a profit here!”
