Convenient location, neat and clean property. It does not have an elevator so if you have heavy luggage like we did, do take note that you might have to lift your bags up 2-3 stories!

Firstly, upon check-in, we were informed by the receptionist that the room we had reserved, a Basic Twin Room with 2 Twin Beds, was unavailable. Instead, we were given a room with only one bed. This was a clear deviation from the reservation we had made and significantly inconvenienced us, especially considering we had traveled from Los Angeles with large checked bags and were exhausted from the journey. Adding to our frustration, the room was located on the fourth floor of the building, which lacked an elevator. This meant that we had to navigate multiple flights of stairs with our heavy luggage, exacerbating our already tired state. Upon expressing our concern to the staff, we were initially met with resistance. The receptionist argued that the room with 2 twin beds was not available at the time of our check-in and claimed that the single-bed room was an upgraded version offered to us at no extra charge. However, after further investigation, it was revealed that the room we had originally booked was indeed available, indicating a lack of attention to detail and organization on the part of the staff. Subsequently, we were required to relocate to the correct room, resulting in additional inconvenience and wasted time. Moreover, upon settling into the room, we discovered that it was not adequately cleaned, with stained sheets and overall poor cleanliness standards.

This is the second time I’ve stayed here and it has not failed to disappoint. It’s traditional, friendly and so convenient. A short walk from Hyde park and we also walked through the park to the Royal Albert Hall. It has a quirky feel with its quaint decor and lovely garden. Close to Notting Hill too and a 20 minute walk to Portobello market. The apartment had everything we needed and the staff were very friendly with a bonus of 24hr reception.

Nice, hotel…uncomfortable bed let it down
We were only here for 1 night but for some reason had been upgraded from a double to an apartment. The space was huge and had everything we needed. There was a dressing table with a mirror and a plug socket beside it which was a plus…so many hotels don’t think of this! The only negative was the double bed….it was ridiculously soft so super uncomfortable! I ended up with a sore neck for the next couple days. Other than that the hotel was perfectly situated for our needs.

All rooms have a little kitchenette. No elevator so book a ground floor room if you need one. Great staff with 24 hour front desk coverage.

It was very nice and tidy, in a good location and reasonably priced for London. The only two things worth mentioning are that it has a lot of stairs and that at night you need to toggle the hallway lights on in order to see in the hallways. But would recommend the stay.

This hotel charged me twice for one night and will not provide a refund. They won't help and told me to contact my back if I wanted to dispute the charges. This has ruined an otherwise nice stay. The property itself was nice and the person who checked me into the hotel was excellent.

The room, bed and the shower were really small spaced. Liked the location. The experience could had been better except the poor quality service provided by one of the employee which resulted in a really embarrassing situation for us. The room service entered our room without knocking or acknowledging while we were changing. Apparently the front desk employee missed updating the system or manager that we extended the stay. Not impressed at all how this situation was handled.

Super Comfy for solo female traveller
Hotel is in safe area with lots of restaurants and shops. Close to 2 tube stations and walking to Notting Hill and Portobello Market. Saw a few shows so had to come later at night and felt very safe. Staff and super friendly and helpful. The Italian staff caught a spider in my room, bless him. Room is small but has everything you need. Would definitely stay again.

Great location; handy to tube and bus system. Close to Hyde park for nice strolls. Two single bed rooms are smallish but this is to be expected. Mattresses too soft and one need to be replaced. Had kitchenette but not well stocked. Shower area was very cramped but good water pressure and water temperature. Liked courtyard area for sitting and decompressing after a day of sight seeing. Good value overall.

My daughter and I spent a week in London and Vancouver Studios was a fantastic place to come home to after each day of adventure. We loved the neighbourhood, the staff were very kind and helpful and our room, while small, was cozy and comfortable.

Great location to train station, Hyde park and heaps of shops. Only one stop away from Paddington which has the Heathrow express train. Bed comfortable, staff great, has everything you need. Only negative was no elevator so you have to get bags up narrow step staircase (I was on third floor). But overall a great place to stay.

Very convenient location. Easy walk to 3 tube stations. Good dining choices and good british style pubs close by. Hotel is a in a lovely old building. Only draw back no lifts. The room was very small but manageable. The bed was very soft and a double size. I would stay again but ask for a room on a lower floor.

Did not enjoy my stay.
Our family room was below street level. There was no lift and the steps were steep and narrow. The room was nicely decorated but felt damp, smelled musty and was very cold. No thermostats to adjust heat.

Great place to stay
This is the second time I have stayed and continue to be impressed with the quality of the staff, cleanliness and comfort of the rooms. The garden it a great place to read and have tea and having a laundry onsite is a bonus. Excellent location near parks and tube stations and in a lively diverse neighborhood.

I have stayed a few times at this property and as a solo business traveller it felt reasonably safe. Good location for my business meetings and accessing London. The staff make a place and some are much better than others. Positive attitude, friendly professionalism makes a difference. The single rooms are tiny but okay for a short stay with studio kitchen facilities. Nice coffee area. Night porter was very helpful and friendly.

Beautiful old building with super super friendly staff and very clean rooms. Be aware though that single rooms are extremely small and there’s barely enough room for one. The locks on the doors seem to be from the time period that the building was constructed and the doors do not latch (at least in my room) & are light as feathers so if the window is open the suction can open the front door if it isn’t dead bolted. There was also no elevator. Non of this bothered me however!!! 10/10 would recommend to any traveller looking for history in a budget. I’ll be certain to rebook next time im in London.

This review is largely for the solo studios. I loved the Vancouver Studios. Check in was smooth and welcoming. The location and price point are amazing as are the staff, the tranquil back patio, the cozy studio unit itself and facilities. My studio was warm, as there is no air-conditioning, not unusual for Europe in older renovated buildings. At least I could safely keep the window wide open. Because of this, I was awoken in the middle of the night by a drunk couple arguing but ear plugs solved the issue. Not the hotel’s fault. The surrounding neighbourhood is green and peaceful. It was hard to believe that I was in central London. Two tube stations are a short stroll away, along with Kensington Gardens, Nottinghill, pubs, stores, restaurants and a nice sized Waitrose. But the stairs! Those darn stairs. All the single studios are located on the 3rd and 4th floors, and there is no elevator. You have to face them every time you come home and go back out. I live in a 4th floor walk-up at home, so I thought, no big deal this is my jam. These stairs ARE a big deal. They start off normally but progress to a narrow, winding, matterhorn accent with a rope for a banister! I had great difficulty bringing my bag up and then anxiety leading up to my checkout and carrying my bag back down them again. No, there is likely no one to help you. There was no one for me. Highly unlikely I would ever stay again in a solo unit, but I would definitely return to stay in a double.

Overall stay was good, staff lovely, great area, but i had initially asked for a lower floor room, when i checked in was given the third floor with no mention of my request so as to whether it was against my booking who knows? I took it as i had been able to check in early and didn’t want to make a fuss but once i got to to the staircase to the third floor regreted decision- deep windy staircase with a rope as a bannister, not sure how this passes health and safety? I just about managed to get my case up and as i had a damaged knee didn’t want to go up and down again to ask for assistance though on leaving i did ask someone bring it down which they did. The bannister is a massive issue as i dreaded going up and down each time. Small room but didn't need a bigger one, great amenities within sorry to do another but - the mattress please replace far too soft you lie in the middle (its a single) and always find yourself on the right hand side so quite uncomfortable even to sit on, didn't help my back or knee. I want to say i would stay here again but if its the third or fourth floor again then not as those stairs without a bannister - it seems perfectly doable to have a proper bannister so why not especially when the stairs are mentioned in so many reviews?

Lovely location. The property itself is funny: an old building, super narrow and steep stairs, tiny rooms (at least mine was). I think they did what they could. Price was reasonable for this location though and I’d come back if I travel light (I didnt like carrying luggage up the stairs). Hyde park is very very close - that was wonderful. Staff is polite, I would’ve enjoyed some friendliness, but maybe they are all too stressed, it’s ok. Oh and there is a lovely garden/patio which was a nice surprise.

Really nice place to stay. The room was good is not quite small which is typical for London. I was also on the 4th floor with no lift and steep stairs. No problem for me, but older people might have an issue

Great find!
Convenient location for the tube and Kensington Gardens/Hyde Park. Every single member of staff was lovely and friendly. Room was so clean, everything was sparkling! Would definitely stay again.
