The only downside are the beds (traditional Japanese style) that are not really comfortable, you can hear everyone in the hostel as the room are separated by traditional paper doors. “This ryokan was beautiful with a spacious room and great mountain views. The onsen was particularly nice with indoor and outdoor mineral baths, a cold plunge, and a sauna. There was also a private shower in our room if you aren’t interested in the onsen experience. The half board was good but served traditional local Japanese food - great for the adventurous eater but it may not be for everyone.
