"We have stayed at Astor house before so we came back to the same apartment. They had upgraded the sofas to recliners which was a nice surprise. The apartment itself is easy to get to clean and Torquay town centre is a short walk away. It has a great view over the beach side of Torquay and the area is quiet. The place is clean and well maintained and the host kindly provided some biscuits and milk. I would highly recommend this place."

"Lovely, spacious rooms, environment considered (no silly plastic cups/shower caps). I saw the pool and jacuzzi water being tested twice whilst we were there. Only thing was that we had to pay for parking, but that was because we booked with a third party. Book with hotel. Breakfast lovely, maybe a few more pastry/bread choices needed."

"We had a really nice stay at Abbey Sands Hotel. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the location was brilliant, just a few seconds from the marina and lots of restaurants. Our room was spacious, tidy and the bed was comfortable. The cot for our baby was a lovely touch, and the bathroom was clean. We also enjoyed the bath! The hotel is a little dated and there’s no lift, which was a bit challenging with a baby and luggage, especially in the hot weather. The room was quite warm, but a fan was provided. The indoor pool was great, although we didn’t get to use the outdoor pool as it was under maintenance. Overall, a pleasant stay with a great location and lovely staff. With a few updates, it would be even better."

"The place was spotless. It was about an 8 minute walk downhill to the harbour area. The breakfast was ordered the day beforehand and freshly cooked. The Owner/Manager was very friendly and helpful. I was on the top floor and had some traffic noise when the windows were open and I accept that it was out of the control of the hotel. There are over 39 Steps from the outside pavement."

"A truly amazing house and Myriam is a very kind, sociable and lovely host, for whom nothing is too much trouble for her guests.We loved the house. The décor is exquisite and in such good taste, the views are incredible, the rooms are spacious and the whole house was spotlessly clean. The kitchen is perfect and has everything you could possibly need. Having three bathrooms at our disposal was such a luxury.The pool is great for a dip whilst lounging on the terrace; the orangery perfect for enjoying an evenings drink in front of, and admiring the evening views. Meadfoot Beach is only ten minutes away on foot and we really enjoyed visiting the different coves in the area, with Elberry Cove being our favourite (Agatha Christie’s favourite place for swimming).The local pub, The Kent, does great food and has an amazing beer terrace.We loved every second of our stay and have every intention of returning again very soon"

"Stayed 3 nights booked direct on day. Staff are excellent especially Susie and her son. Everyone working there was so pleasant which made for a nice atmosphere and they all seem happy to be there. Carpets in corridors a bit tired. Rooms were cleaned every day. We only had bed and breakfast which was served efficiently to lots of guests in a short time slot. Many were on coach holidays and the only downside for us was the doors banging between 530 and 630 as people got their bags collected to load on coach and presume coaches being prepared to leave at 9am. It was situated on a steep hill but you could catch a bus down and up from the harbour area for £1, free with a bus pass. Taxi back up later one night was under £6 so not a problem if you cant do hills! It was nice weather so used the pool and there was entertainment on in the evening. Seemed to attract pleasant guests too and we enjoyed our mini break there and will go back in near future"
