Plenty of room and exceptionally clean. Lake access is a plus.

It's a lovely home on a lovely private cove. It had everything we wanted. The Roku TV system was a little challenging and the beds (all of them) were a little tall (and Jim is 6'1"). It was within easy access to the central square on the one hand and the state park on the other. We took the D-Day Memorial tour in Bedord on one day and was overwhelmed by its beauty. I would not hesitate to recommend the Humble Hideaway to other visitors.

The house was well outfitted and seemed like it was renovated recently. The appliances, flooring and feel of the place was modern and comfortable. It had an amazing dock and place to chill right on the lake!

We loved the privacy of the cove and the dock and the ability to quickly get to the big part of the lake. We docked our boat easily all week and enjoyed fishing from dock. The house was very clean, pretty, and comfortable but the bathrooms need updating and are small. The bathroom shower downstairs is way to small for an adult to use easily. Our family of 5 had plenty of room and if the bathrooms were updated we would rent again in a minute. The owners did a great job of having all you would need for your stay and making it very welcoming.

The home is in a great location with access to the lake. The SML water is clean and refreshing! The only thing I wish we had known is that all the beds are quite high and I am 5’2” and had to thrust myself on the bed every night. Also, there is no dining room table, you have to eat in a three-seat kitchen island. This is a great place for an adult group of up to 4. Steep, concrete steps to lake can be hazardous to small children or the elderly. Spiral staircase to first floor is also not convenient. For my husband, me and our two dogs it was fine.

From the moment we walked in, we were filled with joy at the cleanliness, space, and homey-ness that this house offered. We arrived after dark so after a good night's sleep, we were thrilled to wake up to the sun rising over the trees and glistening on the lake behind the house. The dock was very spacious and great for swimming and fishing. We caught lots of fish right there at the house. We rented a boat from Smith Mountain Lake Recreational Boat Rentals (also highly recommend), and we were able to dock the boat off the floating dock each evening. We had 3 adults and three children ages 4, 5, and 7. When it was time to leave, we literally had to pry our 4 year old from the house. We made the best memories our family has experienced so far, and we found a real gem in Smith Mountain Lake. This house was a great deal and accommodated our stay very well. The home is stocked with bath towels and linens, hand soap, dish soap, sponges, dishwasher and washing machine pods, paper towels, toilet paper, and even travel size toiletries in the bathrooms. It is also stocked with adequate cookware, utensils, plates, bowls, glasses, coffee mugs, a keurig and a regular coffee pot, and a toaster. They also have board games, a few floats, a kayak, fishing poles, and a couple sporting life jackets, and multiple smart tvs. It was decorated very cute and again, everything was very clean. We couldn't be more happy with our stay and we are thankful for the Humble Hideaway helping us create the

To cut to the chase - the house, location, description - all great. I really tried to reach out to the owners of the home before posting this but was unable to do anything except be redirected to Vacasa. This home is not directly listed on VRBO by the owners. It is listed on VRBO via Vacasa. After a decade of renting with VRBO this was my first experience with it being listed via Vacasa. In short, Vacasa as a property manager = terrible. Once you are confirmed with VRBO you then have to do a separate security/identify checklist with Vacasa. Annoying but fine. We did all of that. Received the email and texts confirming we were all set. Show up to home after a 9 hour drive and we were "not approved" to receive the code to enter the home. 30 minutes later after multiple texts and calls with Vacasa they let us know this is an issue on their end, they apologized "but it's happening a lot lately" and they gave us the code. What a mess. Fast forward it's Christmas Day. After a day spent with family we head back to the home, it's pouring rain, cold and dark out...we are locked out of the home. Yes, really. Our 10 digit access code doesn't work. It took 25 minutes on the phone with Vacasa and here's what they said "Oh, the system updated the code and we didn't realize it was doing that so we didn't realize we needed to let you know it had changed." What?! No apology at all. Again, what a mess. These owners need to dump Vacasa and find a local property manager.

Good location near Bridgewater Marina and other restaurants. The house is priced well. Nice quiet little place. Was perfect for us. We will likely try to stay there again.
