Grand 15th-century castle that eventually fell to Parliamentary forces during the English Civil War (1646). The castle was surrendered mostly in-tact, but was slighted (purposefully disabled) to prevent any future use as a fortification.

Today it's an atmospheric ruin that makes for a fun visit.

“Me and my sons had a wonderful holiday here staying in one of there log cabins.The staff were excellent nothing was too much for them .They done everything I asked them for and extra.Lovely place we have booked for next year .We have been coming here for years both just my husband and I and then with family at other times.Its lovely if you want to get away to peace and quite and watching nature birds,butterfly's,rabbits,squirrels and sometime a duck family or deer .Lots of places near by to……

“Although the cleanliness of the lodge was ok, there were things that could have been done that weren't. The high cleaning was lacking. There was dust, cobwebs and spiders in multiple areas including bedrooms. The shower trays had mould and mildew where the doors run back and forth and this could have been easily cleaned. Additionally the TV didn't work in the bedroom which the resort team were aware of but couldn't fix. Overall I would definitely come back. The feedback here is what would take……

“The 4 bed Wedmore lodge which was very large with a lovely view and suited our needs perfectly. A few downsides, there was only one key for 4 couples, it was mainly clean but things like skirting boards were dirty. Our main complaint was the bar calling last orders at 9.30 pm and closing at 10.00 pm. We understand this park is a restful place but we were meeting up with family and wanted longer to catch up and chat.”
