"I usually stay at MINN, this is my first time to stay at TOKYU STAY cause they also equipped in-room laundry machine. This is also my first time to give out a hotel rating so low. Honestly, everything is good except for one thing. The young guy in front desk attempted to downgrade my room type from Residential Double (RD) to Moderate Double (MD). I booked it via Expedia four months earlier. Unlike Agoda, Expedia always list room types clearly with corresponding photos. There’s no room for staff to manipulate or randomly assign. I like certainty, no ambiguity even though booking via Expedia often costs more.
First, he confirmed my RD reservation, but gave me MD room (907). When I dragged my luggage downstairs, I thought it’s just a mistake, and waited for change with no anger. Then he insisted that room 907 is RD. I thought he might be new, not so familiar with the room type, so I showed him pictures, telling him these two types are totally different. Then he spoke in Japanese to tablet, translating into English to me. He wanted me to understand that sometimes layout for each room is different. Nonsense! It’s nothing to do with layout. Layout always goes with room type. At the moment, I realized his real intention. What he didn’t know is that I actually went to their official website for double check before booking. Their website lists each room type with photos, exactly same as Expedia. Even though I’m so cautious, things still went wrong.
