The place was abandoned and filthy, party garbage and broken bottles by the pool. Overall really filthy. I had to check right back out and went down the road to Shields hotel

Dear Shavell, Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding you visit to The SOV Resorts – Negril. It is unfortunate for us that you couldn’t stay despite our efforts to address the unsightly debris by the pool and curtail the loud music from the ongoing party. We understood your discomfort and thus we refunded every penny of your money. Your feedback encouraged us to make some changes; so the parties are not over the top anymore, and much care is taken to ensure that cleaning up unsightly garbage is everyone’s responsibility. I understand you made the reservation in error thinking we were on the beach – but the Cliffs of Negril are quite picturesque and presents astonishing scenes for sunset and sunrise alike. You never experienced our infinity swimming pool in pristine condition, nor even slept in one of our air conditioned rooms – a trademark of our SOV experience. It is my hope that you will give us an opportunity sometime to truly show you what we can do. - Respectfully, Lydney G.

The property was closed to guests because we had repairs and renovations being done. This reservation was not supposed to be made as we temporarily halted bookings. We apologized to the guest and explain the options.

No hot water I sincerely apologize to our guest for having to experience this kind of unfortunate situation. We operate the Front Desk between the hours of 8:00 am and 7:00pm. The security officer will take over for the after-hours and unfortunately the ‘Last Minute Bookings’ sometimes will not get the attention of the front desk agent and therefore fall into the responsibility of Security. The short-coming on our part is an oversight on our part. The property has hot and cold water, air conditioning, cable television and wifi access. Mirrors are also provided in all guest rooms.

August sounds like the middle of ATI Dream Weekend. This would mean the place is loud from the parties and activities that most hoteliers in Negril would adopt for the type of guests we are expecting. These are not long lasting and would be back to normal shortly there-after. You are invited to drop by at some point anytime and experience a transformation we think you might enjoy.

Pretty disappointing. Check in took about 20 minutes. WiFi isn’t accessible in the room. Pool wasn’t in working condition. Gate exiting property was locked with no security or management around to open for half hour. No hot water in bathroom. Television in room was great. Room is huge and clean.

I am thankful that our guest made mention of some positive things about The SOV Resort such as a clean, spacious room with great television and cable service. I believe the designers of the large infinity swimming pool had no idea it would be so delicate to operate. Something as simple as rainfall so easily trows off the PH balance and the slightest of equipment failure can magnify the situation. The pool is fixed and treated and is now in excellent working order. I wish I could show pictures. Security of our guests is paramount to us. We also try to secure the property as well. Sometimes a bathroom break without leaving the key behind really messes things up for guests entering and leaving the property. I must apologize again for this "short-sightedness". There is hot water across the property and if only we were told of no hot water in the room it would have been resolved. We sometimes turn off these electric water heaters and forget to turn them back on at check-in.

This property is beautiful. The grounds are only going to get better every year. Check in was with Amina, who I'd been talking to for a couple weeks before we arrived and she was awesome. The staff is second to none. The young lady that took care of our room was fantastic, even doing a couple loads of laundry for us. Our room was nice and we were able to lay in bed and watch the sunset ! The restaurant and bar area needs some direction. Mainly because they weren't busy. The pool is beautiful, but needs to be maintained much better and has no shade anywhere. The location is excellent with some great restaurants within walking distance. Archway Pizza was fantastic, not for the pizza but for the pasta. Sip and Bites offers a great breakfast and dinner at a very great price. The Jerk Centre is close by and has a great menu. If you want a fancy dinner Rockhouse is a couple doors down. LTU is a short ride also and has great food. WiFi worked good and security was also great. This is a basic hotel and is a great value for the money. The staff is the highlite of this property. Anything we needed we got. Our room did not have a safe and I asked about it. The next day they installed one. Thank you Lydney, Amina and the rest of the SOV staff for a great 2 weeks ! We will definitely be back !

This property is situated on a prime piece of land and the staff were quite friendly. It feels like there is absentee upper management/ownership to have solid processes and ongoing care in place. The rooms were very sparse, curtains were too short for the windows and basics like a desk, rug, chair were non-existent. My room had a lamp with a broken lampshade and a very filthy couch which was scary to even place my luggage on. As I understand the property has only been open just over a year. There was a high pitched sound coming from the street in the evening which lasted for about 30-60 minutes each night which made it difficult to sleep, which is the main reason why I would not return. It took a LONG time to get food from the on-property restaurant. I absolutely would not stay here again. Unfortunate because the location overlooking the sea is breathtaking.

I travel frequently to Jamaica. This was my first time in this hotel. The location of this place is awesome. The staff were very friendly. Great value for money compared to some of the other places I have stayed in the west end. The food was really good but I think they should expand their menu options. I’ll definitely be back.

The Infinity pool is awesome. It could be a bit deeper but it gives a feeling of safety. The view from the restaurant is just beautiful and the water is so pretty. The view from the balcony is great as the lawns and gardens are clean and you can see the ocean from the room as well.

Very nice resort in a beautiful location. Great staff and nice service. Breakfast was delicious. Loved watching the sunset over the ocean from the pool with my rum punch! Room was clean and comfortable. Really enjoyed my brief stay. I already booked another visit .

Where do I begin, when you GPS this hotel it takes you to some open lot no where near the actual location. If it had not been for my husband being a native of the country we would’ve been lost . I arrived at the hotel around 2:30 p.m only to be told my room wasn’t ready and if I could wait 30 minutes for availability which I couldn’t because I was attending a wedding and needed to be dressed by 4:00. Needless to say I was given a room to shower and change in that wasn’t completely finished with renovations. Matter of fact the whole hotel was under renovations so for them to be renting rooms is beyond me . I returned back after the wedding my room was available but I had to wait an hour for the remote control after sending my husband downstairs for it . The plumbing was being renovated as well because the shower was more like a bath after the water wasn’t able to go down the drain. I’ve never experienced such a mess at the cost of 210.00 if I can help anyone out don’t book this hotel their not ready. The breakfast was horrible, the staff needs more customers service training and the manager hid from me and my husband because we asked for a partial refund . He told my husband he would be back at 9 a.m and check out was at 12 , he made sure he wasn’t present and he left his cell phone at the desk so we couldn’t make contact with him. Smh ! I’ve had better experience at 50 dollar hotel in Jamaica this place is rip off and Expedia needs to cut all ties with this place .

I can truly understand why our guest was so disappointed and upset with the service they received on their stay with us. There is no point in me trying to argue the different issues but what I will do is to render my most heart-felt apology for this experience. As GM I take full responsibility for the short comings and I am truly sorry you had to endure this experience, and that I missed you the next morning before you left. We have made several strides in correcting all of the deficiencies including but not limited to the problems that come with new construction work. 1. All bathroom drains have been tested and the blocked drains are cleared. 2. All construction debris has been removed from the property. 3. There is an adequate supply of remote controls for all cable boxes and television sets. Yes, The Sov Resort is a newly renovated property and like all new endeavors we too must undergo our infancy and growing pains. We are using this experience and this slower season to correct all foreseeable short comings. Customer Service and Restaurant Services are being addressed and upgraded as well. I need to express my apologies to our guest for experiencing this kind of oversight. The Sov does provide both bedroom as well as bathroom linens that is changed daily or at the guest's request. Hair driers, irons and electric kettles are also available upon requests form the front desk.
