  • The Gem Theatre (previously known as Kinema Theatre, Hub Theatre) was built in 1909. In 1924, one of the reels of film got stuck in the projector and caught fire, igniting a full reel in the lower magazine. Only the outer shell of the theater survived the fire. The Kinema was rebuilt "as near fireproof as possible" and reopened in 1924. The Kinema Theatre was renamed the Hub Theatre in 1928. In 1933, the theatre was renovated and renamed it the Gem Theatre. After the advent of television, the theater could not attract large enough crowds to pay film rental fees. The Gem Theatre closed about 1986. The title of the last movie, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, remained on the marquee for ten years as the theater sat idle. Sometime after this the theater was again damaged by fire. Mark Childs, owner of Childs Construction, and his wife Heather, a retired dancer, purchased the Gem Theatre in April 2010, after moving to Panguitch from Henderson, Nevada.  After replacing the building's fire-damaged roof, the Childs rebuilt the Gem Theatre's interior and reopened it on 28 May 2011. #OnTheRoad

Loved the cabin, park right in front; comfortable warm bed. Good sized fridge, and microwave. Shower barely fits one person but shower head was great. I reserved two nights, canceled, tried to reserve two nights again and they jacked the price up over $100 so we went with only one night.

Comfortable lodging close to Bryce Canyon

The cabins were exactly what we expected. Comfortable, wooden cabins with a big bed, shower & toilet, a microwave and a fridge. The cabin was clean and well maintained. The check-in was in the Inn next door.

Great for a short stay near Bryce Canyon National Park! Shower a bit small, but hot water & comfortable bed at a great price! Not much around, but had coffee/breakfast and a gas station across street. Quick check-in at motel lobby next door.

Acceptable place

They do not allow cooking on the premises. The shower had buildup. It was further from Bryce than I anticipated with almost no services in between. Otherwise, the beds were comfortable and the place seemed maintained.
