The bed & pillows needed updated, television needed mounted higher. Clearer restaurant ordering instruction. i.e. explanations of the bill for non-Scotland residents.

Lovely room. Paid to Upgraded to superior room but was put in to a normal room which was a bit disappointing Went to the horseshoe bar for dinner the food and service was amazing. Service from excellent from the staff.

Room really big & comfy. Had my dog with me and he was well received and looked after in the pub. Stayed for the evening meal steak pie , mash & peas which after lots of travel was a comfort. Good selection of IPA's and guiness. The accomdation is seperate from the pub, so no noise issue and u can walk home (1min). I will be staying again.....all staff were really helpful and friendly..didnt want to leave!

Unprofessional
The service was shocking, went fora wedding at the Barony, checked in and was not told the place closed and that I had to go round the side of the building to access my room, stood in the cold and rain trying to phone to get in where I couldn't get an answer. Had to return to the Barony and pay for another room. The next day I went in to complain, the owner then proceeded to shout at me and lie saying I had been told and that her husband told me, blatant lie as it was a younger guy who gave me the key. This so called business women proceeded to shout at me and then just walked away refusing a refund. Incredibly unprofessional and rude.

Great food, comfy beds
Very enjoyable stay at the horseshoe, only stopping for the one night on the way up to Edinburgh. Had a lovely dinner, washed down with well kept beer and finished with a few cocktails. Room was tiny but had everything required including very comfy beds.

A most enjoyable overnight stay. We were at a wedding in Neidpath Castle so we had nice bowl of Ham hock soup to keep us going till the wedding feast !. As soup goes ptetty darn good . Gluten free bread for my husband gets 5 stars. All staff were friendly and helpful.

Overnight at The Horseshoe
We very much enjoyed our overnight stay at the Horseshoe. All staff were most pleasant and helpful. Our room (in the adjacent former school house) though small was pleasantly furnished and most comfortable. We thought the bathroom while satisfactory was not as well appointed and was very small. Our evening meal was of a high standard accompanied by a wine list of good choice and value. All drinks prices were reasonable. Breakfast the next morning was also very good. We would certainly consider returning if back in the area.

A little gem
Really lovely place to stay. We were surprised at how beautiful the local area was and how much there was to see. The Inn is lovely built 1862 and conveniently on the main road (although sleeping quarters are set well back). Good job that there were brown signs to guide us into the car park! Our room was lovely and the bed was one of the comfiest I have slept in. The food was really good - a cut above normal pub food - we ate every meal there! The people are very friendly and we were very impressed with the waiting staff who were friendly and chatty. The restaurant gets very busy even during weekday evenings so it's a good idea to book as it is very popular with the locals! Good beer too.

Spot on for touring the area.
The accommodation was first class the only let down was the very small t.v. in the bedroom, wifi next to useless. The restaurant and bar are very good, reasonable prices, excellent food and good service. We would definitely stay here again.

I genuinely enjoyed my two night stay at this hotel. The room was clean, neatly presented and well equipped. The restaurant offered a wide selection of dishes and the food was excellent. The bar was well stocked with a good variety of wine, spirits and beer. All the staff were extremely welcoming and friendly.

Good gastro pub with rooms. Room was small but adequate. The staff here are excellent and have a very nice welcoming manner. We ate in the restaurant and it was very good value . Up a notch from standard pub food. Choice of dishes for cooked breakfast. Rooms are away from road so fairly quiet although some noise from other guests but nothing to cause too much disturbance . Bus service to Peebles and Edinburgh was handy. . Why take a car to Edinburgh when convenient and cheap service on the door step

We chose the Horseshoe Inn as a base for a couple of days exploring the Scottish Borders. Previous reviewers had praised its dining, which was excellent. The rooms are in a separate building to the rear which avoided road noise and provided good off-road parking. Our twin room was compact but with wonderfully comfortable beds. Would certainly stay again. Highly recommended.

The hotel is in lovely old buildings with the restaurant in one and the rooms in others. Staff were all very pleasant and the food choice was very wide. Our choices were really good quality. The rooms are quite small with tea & coffee making sachets on hand. Our rooms were well back from the road so we had a good night's sleep.
