We enjoyed the quiet location and it was an ideal spot for exploring the highlights of the Isle of Skye. The location needs a bigger sign to indicate the driveway. We had to ask some strangers for directions when we were trying to find it. We could also have used a bit more toilet paper and towels. The pillows in the room with the double bed were thin and unsupportive. Apart from this we had a pleasant stay.

Had a great stay at Ambers cottage. Check in was smooth, cottage was clean and well equipped. Was not expecting the Four Seasons! Ambers cottage was a lovely get away in Skye - with beautiful vistas, nearby hikes. Hope to return one day.

This was the perfect location for our Skye adventure. The house fit our group of 4 perfectly, and we enjoyed the wonderful views of the beach. Communication with the owner was easy after doing a quick google search on how to make an international call (when I’m from the states). I throughly enjoyed my stay!

From the moment we approached the driveway I was taken aback. There’s a large pile of old tires at the bottom of the drive. The drive is several hundred feet long and very rutted and muddy. It badly needs to be regraveled, as does the parking area. The picture of the house on the listing is many years old, and it needs paint badly now. I know it’s a wet environment, but it’s not well maintained. Inside is not real clean. There’s a lot of mold, and a lot of basic repairs need to be done. Furnishings are adequate, but there’s no dining area, so you have to make do. The large bed is not very comfortable; it needs a real box spring under the mattress. The utilities were okay, but the connection to the pole outside is iffy. In the winds that batter the place I expected it to come loose. All in all, it needs a lot of work. There are much better values out there.

The property was clean and as expected for a 3 star. Unfortunately we could not communicate with the host the day before checkin and the day of checkin. We escalated the day before with Expedia because the phone numbers did not work. The cell provided on checkin instructions rung someone in UK, he had no clue what I was asking. The land line number never answered. We also sent an email morning of checkin to Sykes cottages, no response. I sent a message using the contact property feature in Expedia desperately saying we would be there at 5pm please provide key pickup instructions. There was never a reply. I escalated through Expedia at 5:05 day of checkin. The agent had the same issues I did tin contacting the host. He finally console of someone at Sykes Cottages (property managers I assume). But they would not give the agent the key pickup info. It was the same number for Sykes Cottages that I was already using. The only way I got an agent at Sykes was by lying and saying I had to pay for something. The person who answered was great and she was able to get hold of the host and I got the lock box combo for me. The host told the agent that I must not be dialing the +44 properly, blaming me. I was failing properly which is how I got hold of Sykes Cottages. Terrible host communication, highly stressful, avoid booking this cottage just for that reason alone. Brutal experience not knowing if we had somewhere to sleep at 6pm in Staffin (far from other options.

La ubicación de la casa estaba muy bien: muy cerca del mar y los lugares de visita de la zona. La propiedad en sí necesita algo de mantenimiento en especial las zonas exteriores de la casa. Se podría mejorar el acceso peatonal desde donde se parquea el vehículo. La cocina muy bien equipada y eso nos gustó. Aunque la casa estaba limpia, en los clósets se sentía un poco de moho.
