"The Clifton is in the closing stages of a much needed renovation. The communal areas, bar and restaurant have been good for a long time, but the rooms were from a bygone era. Thankfully, they are now all up to a decent modern spec. My double room was comfortable and clean, with the climate control and new double glazed windows a welcome addition (aside from anything, to keep the noise of squaky seagulls out in the morning!). A rainfall style shower with a handheld shower on top was nice. The MPW restaurant underneath is a real bonus, as is the very smart bar. A very short stumble from town or the zig zag path down to the beach/harbour. An excellent base for exploring folkestone and beyond."
