"Staying at Kamuroan was like visiting extended family that make you feel at home. The Okami-san (female manager of a ryokan) is super welcoming and thoughtful about giving her guests a wonderful stay. She's passionate about hosting as well as sharing Japanese culture through her traditional home, delicious breakfasts, fun conversations, and more. At the same time, she also does a great job giving guests their own space to experience and discover Kyoto for themselves. Kamuroan was the most...

"We (small family from USA) arrived for our first time in Kyoto and felt like we were taking a chance on this house rental. We realized immediately how lucky we were to get to stay here. The home is absolutely beautiful, clean, quiet, charming, and in a wonderful location in the Gion district, close to lots of sites, restaurants, shops, and old world charm. We wished we could have stayed longer. In fact, after staying here we are contemplating moving to Kyoto for a year just to enjoy it more. The...

"My favorite part about this ryokan is that you can visit many landmarks by walking, one of which is Kiyomizu-dera. The ryokan is located within a picturesque part of Kyoto. It's a 20 minute walk from the nearest train and 5 minutes from a bus stop. The staff were nice and understood English. You can request dietary needs for your included traditional breakfast. The breakfast is served at their restaurant and you can choose a time between 7 am and 8:30 am. I didn't realize when reserving our...

Kiyomizu Sannenzaka
2.5 star property
8.8 out of 10, Excellent, 73 reviews
"Great place to stay, in Kyoto, is a bit of a walk from the nearest bus and not close to many train lines, so your stuck taking the overly packed 206 bus. The place was nice, lots of space luggage. Laundry situation was good, however there wasn’t any laundry soap, or hand soap. Dishes could be purchased I believe through the hotel. All in all I’d recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in Kyoto."
