We had a lovely time at the hotel. Particularly enjoyed the table tennis and pool. If we had known how great the hotel is we would have booked a longer stay!

Lovely room with two bedrooms which gave us all enough space, including the huge private outdoor space. Breakfast buffet was great, only niggle was the fact there were too few umbrellas for the loungers by the pool, which was a shame as there were as no mad dash for loungers and enough to go around. Access to the sauna and steam room were a great bonus, plenty of places to eat out within a 10 minute walk from the hotel,

Quiet area family hotel

Too few sunbeds... Buffet breakfast good but lacked a little compared to others. Great area around the hotel. Not in big tourist area, therefore more Laval feel and quiet.

I strongly recommend this hotel, the staff is very friendly, the food amazing, with amazing view. Also we have a bus from the hotel to drop and pick up us in Funchal for free, the salt water pool is also amazing. I and my family had enjoy so much this place, we love it.

The property was in a very convenient location to get to restaurants in the town, and to attractions in the area. Breakfast buffet was great. The weather wasn’t very cooperative, so we did not have a chance to enjoy the pool. Air conditioning didn’t work well.

It was a nice quite property with an amazing view of the ocean. The hotel has its own shuttle service that can take you to Funchal but also across the street is public bus that is more frequent. Close by is also a swimming area as well as snorkeling equipment rental that you could get to jump in the ocean. The property has nice clean pools, sauna, spa and hammam which we really enjoy.

I've found this place a bit average on the cleaning. It's a family place, the area is lovely with some extra dining options as the internal restaurant is very limited with a buffet only overcrowded. I'd suggest them to train the staff to become a bit more welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed the evening entertainment and the highlight was the magician show for kids and aduts

We liked our stay very much. Hotel and rooms are very nice, the sea view is great and there are always sunbeds available at the pool. We also loved the voucher system for room cleaning service. The only thing we would have appreciated was more vegetarian alternatives for dinner. But besides that everything was great.

Ocean view at its best!

Amazing location, next to the ocean which was very relaxing and pleasable. The staff always worked towards our desires. Apart from the construction noises within the hotel during the day (which should was a one-time-thing according to the staff but lasted during the whole week) everything was awesome!

Nice hotel in a good location

Nice hotel in a great location. I wish I knew they are undergoing major renovation on the lower level. Usually out of sight but noisy! The food and drinks were of good quality, even if the pool bar prices are very high for self service at a 4* hotel. Very clean hotel, even if I found the pool toilets to be out of soap quite often. Friendly staff.

We were moved to the Riu (same property, same company, different building). Staff was consistently happy and helpful. We were absolutely spoiled by the staff. Ex: Even after checkout, they allowed us to stay and use all facilities and enjoy any meals/drinks until our departure. The hotel and staff made the trip to Madeira unforgettable

I liked the option of purchasing the dinner Buffett while I was there. After exploring all day it was nice to just go downstairs and enjoy the wide selection of food. I also enjoyed the bus stop right in front of the hotel that was easy to use. Everyone was friendly and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. One thing was the pool closing hrs were at 2100 which for my family is typically the time we have winded down and are ready for a swim. I will say there was one night the front desk clerk kept the pool open a little later so we could take our time enjoying the pool so that was definitely a plus!

This is a beautiful property, set up on a cliff overlooking the ocean, and just a 5 or so minute walk along nice coastal paved pathways to the Ponte de Piedade. The main hotel is nice, the pools are large, and the sand pool is unique and was a lot of fun for our kids. A few pros and cons based on our stay in one of the two bedroom family studios. Pros: - Unit had a full kitchenette which made cooking possible, which was important because there are not many dining options other than the hotel (expensive) around that area - Unit had washer and dryer - Blackout roller shades everywhere (although we didin't discover until the last day 😣) - Nice L'Occitane toiletries - Proximity to Ponte de Piedade and the coastal trails - Proximity to a local beach, except it is a nudist beach so go with caution Cons: - Not much around the hotel itself. Lagos is a 20 minute drive away - The apartment could use a restock in the kitchen. We didn't have 4 of anything including drinking classes, but made do with a mixture of glasses and coffee mugs. - Very windy up on the cliff vs down in other towns that are more beachfront areas. Made it too cool to really lay out much - Pools were cold. In combo with the wind they were hardly usable, even by our kids. - Hot tub wasn't even bath water warm Overall it was a nice stay and we enjoyed it. Not sure it would qualify as a five star hotel compared to US five star hotels, but definitely nice and kid friendly without feeling like a kids camp.
