"What a gem in Matera! Easy to get to, not to many stairs. (It's Matera, so of course there are some) It took 7-8 minutrs from the parking garage. Short way to Piazza de Sedile with cafes and restaurants nearby. We had the spa room. It was lovely to jump into the small pool after a warm day. The room was spotless and clean. When you stepped outside and walked around the corner, you had a lovely view of Matera. We loved it. And if you are worried about the noise from the pool; you can turn it off...

Staying in a beautifully restored historic cave in the heart of Matera was such a unique and magical experience. Our room was beautiful, spacious, and full of character, while still being very comfortable. The staff were absolutely wonderful—warm, friendly, attentive, and always happy to help. Breakfast was also fantastic, with fresh local food and excellent service. The location in the Sassi is incredible, and simply stepping outside the hotel feels like stepping back in time. More than just a hotel, Sextantio really feels like part of the Matera experience. We absolutely loved our stay and would highly recommend it!"
