George Baldwin House Suite

  • Apartment suite in the George Baldwin mansion. This is for adventurous history lovers who seek an experience unlike a modern renovated home or new hotel room. This is not a luxury property in terms of interior finishes, it is very rustic. There is a Full size bed and a Twin bed. The apartment is mostly original but a few modern conveniences are yours, such as wifi access and a small TV with basic channels. The grocery store is 1 block away, Forsyth Park is 2 blocks away and Brockington Hall is next door. There are 2 flights of stairs to climb to this rental unit.

    The George Baldwin House was constructed in 1887. Designed by architect William Gibbons Preston. This was the first commission for Preston who later went on to design many of the most famous and impressive Savannah landmarks such as the Cotton Exchange.

    What to expect when booking: We are an "integrated partner" with VRBO/Expedia/HomeAway. Your credit card will show the rent/tax/cleaning portion of your charges under our company name because Integrated Partners are required to be the Merchant Of Record per VRBO terms of service. Only your "service fee" charged by VRBO will show on your credit card statement as a charge from that company and rest shows separately as a charge from our local Savannah GA company. Please be sure anyone who oversees your credit card statement is aware of this to avoid any confusion. If you book on VRBO you will have already agreed to our basic rules and terms (no smoking, no pets, capacity limit, check in/out times, refund policy etc) on the VRBO checkout page. Our system will email asking you to digitally sign a rental agreement with our company after booking through VRBO. Nothing in our company rental agreement contradicts the posted terms on VRBO. Integrated software partners are trusted and approved by VRBO and all Expedia Group affiliate booking sites.

Prefect is you are looking for the quirk and charm of an old unique home. Grateful for modern A/C. Be aware of steep stairs to the suite and limited availability of walk sockets and overloading when certain appliances are used. We did not have an issue with appliances but did have to unplug lamps to charge or use devices. The location and charm of this building is unmatched. We slept incredibly well and were very very comfortable!

This is a great place if you are looking for a historic feel stay in a quiet area. Parking on the street was easy and free. Place was clean and very charming. This is not a place to go wild and throw parties. It is more for the explorers, calm couples and families that want to have a good sleep before exploring the beautiful Savannah. Definitely My kind of places.

Location was perfect! Within east walk to historic district, river walk, grocery store, and restaurants. Apt was clean, but not overly comfortable. While we appreciate historic homes, the presence of feeling paint throughout was disconcerting. We have stayed in historic homes previously, so we were familiar with the old tub and shower arrangement. However, the tub was extremely narrow- we had to stand sideways under the shower, and we are small persons! As noted on the listing, the stairs up to the apt are steep and narrow.

Historic home in a great neighborhood

If you like walking around historic cities looking at beautiful old homes and then popping into a pub for a refreshment, then this one is for you. Great central location to the main park in the city and an easy stroll to the river and all the fun it has to offer.

Weekend getaway

This is a lovely apartment that sits only a block and a half away from Forsyth Park. It's comfortable, convenient, and safe. Moreover, it has a unmistakable charm that lends itself well to the Savannah experience. We highly recommend this spot and would most certainly stay there again!

Living in history

As other reviews have mentioned, this is not your typical modern lodging. But it was one of the highlights of our trip to historic Savannah. We toured another historic house and felt it was on caliber with the onewre staying in!

Baldwin Suite

Perfect location to be close to everything. Close to the beautiful Forsyth park and went to the Green Market on Saturday there. All the attractions are a short walk away from this amazing mansion. There’s also a bakery very close you have to try if you stay here. There’s also a bar/restaurant in a mansion at the other end of the street I would recommend. The owners are very nice..

Property just as described. It is steps to Yerba Mate for breakfast, teas,sandwiches, fresh breads. Also steps to grocery and short walk to restaurants. Bed perfect, slept great and apartment has what you need.

The suite was exactly as described. We loved the high ceilings and historic look of the property. Mary was wonderful as. Responsive when we had a question. The property had everything we needed and had a great location.

Loved the area. There's even an awesome bakery a block away. Everything we needed. My only complaint is there is no a/c in the bedroom so it was a bit hot. If your coming to Savannah for history and ghost stories this place is right up your alley! Gorgeous history here!

Historical Experience

If you're a history buff and interested in a historical experience, this is the place to stay. It's a genuine throwback to the 1800's with a few modern conveniences. Got a chance to see a stiz, predecessor to a bidet. Host was super nice and accommodating..
