The only reason I didn’t give the amenities five stars is that there was no mini fridge in the room. Outside temperatures were in the 90’s during our stay and keeping bottled water cold required surrounding it with ice in the ice bucket. The ice machine worked great, though.

The breakfast was disgusting. The AC did not work correctly and it was extremely hot and it smelled and they were stains like water stains all over the floors in the hallways. We did not enjoy our stay.

We stayed at the State House Inn for two nights and chose the property due to its close proximity to the Amtrak station, as we were in town to see the Union Pacific Big Boy #4014 on its coast-to-coast tour. The property was conveniently located two blocks from the station and close to the historic downtown. It was a particularly warm weekend, so we were thankful for the effective AC in both the hotel lobby and our room. The front desk attendant greeted us with a smile each time we passed through. Our room was spacious for our family and we did not notice any outside noise which made the stay comfortable as well. The continental breakfast was adequate -- nothing fancy, but we were satisfied. The only improvement I'd like to have seen was a bit more attention to housekeeping. There were quite a few crumbs behind and under the sofa when we went to make the bed, and the ice bucket had not been cleaned and had some type of dried liquid in the bottom, so we did not attempt to use. Other than that, we were satisfied with our stay and would stay again if visiting Springfield.

Hotel rooms were good. Seemed to be updated. Our first room AC didn’t work but the staff switched us immediately. Floor 7 reeked of marijuana. Heard talking all night in room next door until 5am. Breakfast started at 7am on Sunday. We had somewhere to be at 7 and went down and no coffee or anything available at 6:45am. Overall an ok stay.

I choose it because its quite and worked well for my schedule. No house service was offered as they do it on demand. Old times are dead when house cleaning was available every day for every hotel. Now rates are higher but no house cleaning anymore. Staff was attentive and did provide whatever needed. Breakfast is available and basic with eggs, meat and juices. Overall decent property and will likely choose it again. Parking is plenty and free.

Room clean. Towels adequate for two people. AC wonderful. View of city beautiful. Breakfast was great. Front desk staff friendly and always helpful. Parking good. We had E bikes locked and cabled in open truck bed and we were concerned they might be stolen. Front desk informed us to park in the lot where they had cameras. That’s what we did and all was good. Two tissues left in Kleenex box and had to request refill. Only decaf coffee available and had to request caffeinated pack. Got in nice clean shower to wash my hair and there were two shampoo’s. NO cream rinse. Certainly NOT the end of the world but we were busy sightseeing and had a schedule to keep. Thx for asking.
