"We were very pleasantly surprised to learn our 1 room family suite had 2 separate bedrooms. Beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was nice. Only issues were that we only had 1 key which made it tricky every time we went separate places. Also there was an illuminated exit sign in the king bedroom we had to cover up it was so bright, and when others shut their doors it would thump ours. Loved the skylights, was a bit stuffy but those helped. Loved the breakfast!"

"A very friendly welcome, they were happy to accommodate our very late (11.30pm) arrival after we travelled there on the ferry. The owners have recently taken it over and in the last few weeks completed an overhaul of the bar/restaurant area which looks lovely. We didn't try the evening meals but the breakfasts were phenomenal, a proper Scottish breakfast that really sets you up for the day. "Our host was brilliant at communicating and in the prep of the property for our arrival. Very welcoming experience, from the info about the property and the area prior our stay; including reaching out straight away to offer any suggestions, assistance, etc. AND fantastic local crafted treats awaiting our presence!Location was perfect for us at it was easy to get to many of the monuments, shops, ferry and walk paths. We certainly would enjoy repeating this experience at this wonderful cottage. Wonderful attention to detail in the interior design and furniture /fixtures. The instructions manual was very thorough and provided timeframes of programming for heating and we found no need to ‘extend’ any of those for comfort. A treasure of a property!!!"

"WHAT A FIND! When I was first looking for somewhere to stay in Stromness I have to admit that I was quite disappointed not to be able to find anywhere overlooking the harbour. Then I saw 'Withy Gill' listed on the website and booked for a 4 night stay in August. Having now had our holiday and wandered round Orkney and Stromness, how glad am I that I found it ! Simon the host contacted us a few times before our trip and always responded to any queries we had. The cottage itself is great, exactly as the description with lovely views over to the Hills of Hoy. The interior was immaculate and the furniture looks brand new, it is warm, cosy and somewhere I could quite happily live in with everything you need (including little extras like a welcome pack, the binoculars in the kitchen, games, reading books and snuggly throws in the living room :)) We will be returning to Orkney in the future and wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else."

"This was expensive for what it was but I guess there are a lot of tourists in Orkney and not a lot of accommodation! Over £200 a night for a small room, double bed (not king). The rate did include breakfast, which was adequate (order from list the night before). The hotel did have a restaurant - food was fine - and a bar and friendly barman. Staff were lovely altogether. I have never been to Orkney before so can’t make any comparisons but I suspect this may be among the better places to stay. Lots of room to park the car. Sea view."
