“Staff was very … well, rude. The front desk at least. Room service was laughable, no knife with pork chops, had to request our drinks 3 times ( for water ). Food was so poorly prepared. Just bad. Fish was soggy and old tasting. Pork chops were the driest meat I have ever been served. Judging by the Luke warm temp, I would guess they were in a chafing dish precooked Just Terrible. Most extensive check in process including an eight part waiver of liability. It was prepaid through Expedia……

“As an American that had never seen real life cockroaches before, maybe I’m overly sensitive. Maybe it’s a common thing in the Philippines or in tacloban in particular? But we had to call staff for cockroaches in our room multiple times. And I’m a bit squeamish, so I didn’t sleep well at all. We booked the “fabulous” rooms. They have a queen bed upstairs and two twins downstairs. We also had a delayed check in. Several hours, because of some electrical issue? And I’m pretty sure I heard a rodent……

“Excellent staff, amenities, safety, and conveniently listed — all for only 1000 PHP more than a barebones apartelle-style property further from downtown Tacloban. Onsite parking, secure entry and front desk managed throughout the night. All this kitchenette had was a sink! no microwave, not even a kettle to boil water!! Their staff person entered my condo without permission, not even a knock!!! “The Summit Hotel was much livelier, and to be fair, we were only there for one night to visit family nearby. The location is very convenient — right across from the mall — and I wish we had more time to explore the mall and the restaurants. The room was a disappointment, but to be fair, I don’t have anything to compare it to as an American tourist. I tried to take a shower, but the water was very cold. I think you need to be patient and let it warm up. There was almost no water pressure — just……
