The hotel has a great location and the staff is very friendly and helpful. However, the 4-star rating on booking sites and Google is very misleading. The hotel's condition as-is is below a basic 3-star hotel. All restaurants are closed and there is no on-site food or breakfast. There are no laundry facilities within this hotel. I am typically not picky about room conditions, but this time the room we stayed is barely serviceable and should not be assigned to guests. The carpet has large patches of stains -- not meeting basic cleanness or hygiene. The cover of one of the bedside lamp was broken and leaned on the wall. The light bulb flickered from the other bedside lamp. The room had power outage 2 out of 3 nights. The lights flashed like Halloween or a dancing club, to the point that you wonder if the hotel has a proper and safe electric system. We need to call front-end desk to wait for someone to reset the power. Hotel staff and management agreed with these issues, and refunded me $38 out of the ~$450 I paid for 3 nights. I appreciate their symbolic efforts, but it's still well overpriced for what it is. Had I know all these, I would simply choose other hotels.

Very old hotel, shows in the interior and rooms. Lobby wasn't too bad but once you get into the rooms, it is very noticeable that upgrades should be made. Air conditioning was not working, they said it was broken but there was no sign of repairs being done anywhere. Air conditioning however was working in the lobby area and dining area which tells me they are controlling the temperature in the rooms. The temperature in the room is permanently set at a low setting and cannot be set any stronger. There was a bad old smell in the room and felt muggy probably because they was no air conditioning. Would not stay here again and do not recommend. Breakfast was normal, nothing fancy and seems like they were just leftovers from the night before. I stayed away from most and had the fresh fruit.

Nice, Central Hotel
My three friends and I did a weekend trip to Taipei, and the Taipei International Hotel was perfect for us. It was close the MRT, and walking distance to some our favorite restaurants. The hotel its self is nice and clean. The beds are little hard, but they worked. We also had cold water in the morning - not sure why, but it only happened once. We didn't use our "Free Breakfast" as we wanted to eat our way through Taipei. If you're looking for a good deal, on a budget and on a time restraint - the Taipei International Hotel is ideal.

Worked for my family
Front desk staff very courteous and efficient. Breakfast was very good, with and option of proteins and vegetables along with bread, milk, cereal, coffee and tea. Room was as advertised, large beds and spacious with in room wifi. Proximity to lines 2-4 with transfer stations to the reat of the mrt lines nearby. Good location for nearby night markets and sightseeing

Great location, horrible rooms
We stayed 3 nights at this hotel. When checked-in, they automatically upgraded us to a bigger room, which was nice. However, when we walked in, there's a strong smell of smoke despite the entire hotel is non-smoking. Later we also found out that the entire hotel runs on central air, which means, you cannot control the temperature in your room. The front desk told us to open the window since outside temperature is cooler. However we were only on the 6th floor facing a busy street, so we have the difficult decision of noise vs. heat. After a horrible night sleep, I asked to move rooms. They moved us to a higher floor facing a quieter street, but they only have two single beds. I asked them to put the bed together so my wife, baby and I can sleep together. Assuming they will add a mattress topper to make it like a big bed, they literally only pushed the beds together with a big seam between the two beds. Also, I found an empty beer can underneath the chair. Lastly, despite having the "do not disturb" sign during the day, the maid still went in for service. I appreciate their effort of accommodating to my needs, but I will never, ever stay here again.

It was very good location in Taipei. Everything is convenience in that location. The hotel is small but reasonable fare and they upgraded the room even I didn't mention it. The room is very clean and comfortable. But air condition wasn't good to work and tv and fridge were not good condition.

Excellent hotel, centrally located.
Last minute booking. One of the cheapest in the general area. But I wasn't planning on staying in the room beyond sleep, so I didn't expect or care much. However, I was very pleasantly surprised. Hotel staff was very friendly from the get-go. They'd even prepared my key in advance, with my name on it, very efficient, so checkin took less than a minute. For some reason, they upgraded me to a junior suite, which was a nice bonus. The room was immaculately clean. High ceilings. 2 TVs. Balcony overlooking the park. 4 goosedown pillows. Bathtub and separate shower. Complimentary toothbrushes, etc. Just 2 blocks from Zongshan MRT station, on the red line, which connects to Chiang Kai Shek Memorial, Dongmen (for Din Tai Fung), Shilin (night market), and Taipei Main Station (for bus back to airport)--so, extremely convenient. Budget or otherwise, I'd definitely stay here again, no question.

Good location, hotel not up to the price tag
Generally a decent place to stay, though I don't feel the amenities and conditions lived up to the price we paid. If I returned to Taipei I'd probably want to stay within walking distance of one of the night markets or Yongkang Jie, but this hotel is still in a good location, with some interesting alleyways to explore just around the corner. There's a subway station only 10 minutes away, and most places you'd want to visit are a short and inexpensive taxi ride away. Clean enough, though there was a large stain on the carpet in our room that somebody should have taken note of. The breakfast was dominated by Chinese dishes - the Western options were both limited and lacklustre, so we went elsewhere after the first day. Even if you wanted a Chinese-style breakfast, there are much better options available on the streets of Taipei. Staff were friendly and helpful on the few occasions we needed assistance. Wi-Fi worked well in the rooms.

Big room with all basic toiletries
First of all, its a big room that can accommodate 4 adults as stated, but actually, its 2 king size bed, it can fit up to 6 people comfortably. Basic toiletries like shampoo, shower gel shower cap and tooth brush all provided, in addition, body cream, shaver and combs are provided also, much to my delight !There is also wardrobe in the room. Everything is great about this hotel except their breakfast. Its really the most awful breakfast ever eaten. the breakfast variety is VERY limited. For the 4 days that i stayed there, i ate bread with butter and drank orange juice only. So, if you are planning to stay at this hotel, dont buy their breakfast. Macdonald's just opposite. Just below the hotel, there are shops for small shopping, 7-11 and a family mart within 3-5 mins walking. If you walk from the hotel to the nearest mrt, which is zhong shan station i think, you will passby 1 or 2 major malls. but did not shop there. Walking to the station takes about 15 mins. If you are alright with walking, and would prefer a large room, this hotel suits you.

A pleasant 4-night stay.
Excellent service from front desk when we arrived to check-in. We got a room upgrade because there was no vacancy for the room-type we reserved. The room was clean and well kept. The double-sized bed was of medium softness, however we find the pillows a bit lacking - too soft. The air-conditioner's temperature cannot be adjusted, and somehow it tries to maintain the temperature at 24 degree Celsius, but we find it a warm with the thick blanket provided. Internet broadband speed was free and speedy. Free breakfast at a small area at 2nd level, however not much food selection. It would be better to catch some Taipei food out of the hotel. Right outside of the hotel, we have MOS burger, and just across the street, there is McDonalds, and a convenience store "family mart". Zhongshan station is just a 10-min slow walk away, with "Shinkong Mitsukoshi" shopping centre nearby! Hope this review helps the next traveller!

a good stay in taipei
My family, 4 of us, stayed the hotel for 6 nights. The room we booked with two queensize beds is very spacious, clean, and comfortable. The toilet equipped with shower and tube, also big enough. The LCD tv set is new and full of cable channels indeed my boys loved to stay in hotel to watch tv rather than go outside. There's cabled internet but useless to us as we only need is wireless for pop phone access. Only 1st floor has Wi-Fi. Breakfast is nice prepared in small choices, not much changes within the days. Location is good, 5min to mrt, and plant of shopping, including mitsukoshi department. A lot Japanese night life stuff around. Also close to cinema etc. There's market food in smaller street around. Nice one in all.

Taipei International - center of the city
Taipei International is located pretty center of the city. it only takes 10 mins to access to different lines of Mass Railway Transit. Easy to access to bus and taxi. lots of restaurant nearby. With 5-10 mins of taxi, you can access a good number of great reataurant. Complimentary breakfast was great. It was simple but got lots of choices of dishes. Relatively expensive in comparing with the hotel nearby but it is acceptable expensive. Hotel staff were friendly. You can even request to change bedding everyday.

Taipei International - good location
I was there with two kids and my mom. The hotel is near Zhongshan Station - around 6-7 minutes walk. Plenty of good little boutiques, food places and convenience stores within short walking distance as well. Hotel staff are polite and professional. Room cleaning service is also very good. The complimentary breakfast is simple but good. For a first time traveller to Taipei with both young and old family members, the hotel was a good base.
