We really enjoyed our stay at Raffin. The quiteness, amazing views accross mountains and out to sea. Would highly reccomend it, including trips to Handa Island, cliff walks, birdwatching and sea swimming.

The cottage was very comfortable, well equipped and nicely decorated with a warm atmosphere. Wonderful views of moorland and mountains from every room in the house and view to the sea from the garden. The house is ideally placed close to the Stoer lighthouse and for many wonderful walks ,kindly recommended by the owner , in the wild nature of the Highlands at close distance or directly from the house,

The cottage was in a very scenic and peaceful setting which suited us. We used the cottage as a base for some local walks and other walks further afield. We discovered that the cottage was about 10 miles from the nearest main road and it took about 30 to 40 minutes of driving on a single track road to get to the main road. The nearest grocery stores were in Lochinver. There was quite a lot of traffic on the single track road,with people visiting the lovely beaches at Auchmelvich and Clactoll. The distance away from the road may not suit everyone. The cottage had all the facilities that we needed, including dishwasher, washing machine and fridge/freezer. Initially we found the kitchen and lounge to be rather cold, until we were able to get the woodburner stove working. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and love the area.

Myself and missus loved the remoteness and quiet. Cottage is in fantastic condition. We will more than likely be back at some point. Highly recommend if you savour being in a remote place.

We loved staying at this cottage. Great comms from Wayne and the views over to the hills were just amazing. The location is quite remote but this was ideal for us as it was so peaceful. Bed super comfy and the kitchen was well appointed with lots of utensils. Would love to come back and stay. Thanks for a great stay, Wayne and beautiful Sunny Sutherland xx

This is a wonderful two bedroom cottage, perfect for a quiet getaway or a base for cycling, walking and kayaking. It has a view of the sea from the garden, with no other houses in between, great for a coastal walk. You can also see mount Suilven in the distance from the living room. It’s very well maintained and clean. There are two neighbouring cottages a short distance away but the only other person we saw was the shepherd rounding up his sheep. Perfect.

We had a lovely week staying at Meall Dubh. The cottage is warm, comfortable and well equipped. It is in a great location for exploring the area and there are some fantastic walks right on the doorstep. The views out the cottage to the Assynt mountains is spectacular.

Cottage basically fine but cold, broadband not working and information file very hard to find on arrival. Front door key difficult to operate. TV showed 'No signal' but set to wrong input so easily fixed and broadband usually ok. Cottage warmed up after 2 days.

This was a well kept home in a beautiful setting. We enjoyed hiking right out of the gate during the day. In the evenings we played cards in the evenings in the cozy kitchen. We love watching the livestock roaming the countryside. The weather was wet and cold this time of year so pack rain gear. The road from lochinver to the home was a single lane adventure not for the timid driver. We got the hang of it after a couple of tries. Ullapool was the best place for groceries and eating out but it will take over 1 hr of driving to get there. The owner was very helpful with recommendations and hiking information. He was also good about responding to emails. Loved the visit.

My sister and I were in Great Britain for a month. Scourie was the last place we visited and the best. Lovely house with a big eat in kitchen. Well equiped with everything we needed. We are already talking about going back to Scourie in a few years and spending 4 to 5 weeks

We had a great week in Meall Dubh, what a lovely cottage. Very pretty, great location and very comfortable as well. The vies from the house and garden are glorious. As the weather was fine throughout our stay, we had some great walks and saw lots of wildlife. Hopefully ee'll return next summer, for two weeks.

Meall Dubh is a cosy,warm, comfortable cottage in a fantasic location. The two woodburning stoves are very effective and welcoming and the cottage is well furnished with everything you need for an enjoyable holiday.The property was very clean and there were some nice additional touches eg. the fires were laid, ready to light when we arrived. Customer service was excellent with lots of helpful suggestions for local walks etc. We mainly ate at the cottage but we enjoyed an excellent lunch at The Kyelescu Hotel and we also had a couple of good meals at The Bunkhouse in Lochinver. I would definitely reccomend this property to friends and relatives - in fact I have already done so!

The cottage is very comfortable & toasty warm with all the facilities provided for a relaxing stay. It is set in a lovely peaceful picturesque location and is a great base from which to explore and enjoy the beauty of Assynt & the NW Highlands.
