Tybee Island Vacation

Tybee Island & Whitecaps was a great vacation. One of my bucket list items and it turned out great. It rained some nearly every day, but that did not prevent us from getting a LOT of beach time. Visited Savannah’s some also and that was a plus. The house was in great shape. Clean, comfortable and well appointed! Family had a blast! A perfect getaway before the start of school. Only issue is the opening picture. It looks like it is open with a great view. The from yard has huge trees that blocks most of the view towards the beach. However, loved the dolphins!

suffering in the 96degree heat 😡

We arrived Sunday 4 pm and It took until Monday night to get the air conditioning fixed and working /cooling so we could sleep in 3 of the bedrooms 😠 Also there were repairs being made on the roof to the chimney area so banging on the roof for 2 days!!! These were major problems and we have been working to get some monitory credit for our these major issues. We paid a substantial sum to rent this house. If we had not had these problems we would have given a better review. We are still waiting for all the credit we were promised.

Great home

Had a wonderful stay in historic home. Would have loved to have seen pics of the house in earlier times. Was very happy to find a house we could book for 4 nights v. requiring 7 nights during summer month.

Escape to Tybee

As always, Tybee was beautiful, even in the rain. The property was beautifully appointed. It allowed for plenty of room to spread out and relax. While it rained almost non-stop during our entire stay, our location made it bearable - with beautiful views and lots of in house entertainment options we were able to escape to the seclusion of Tybee Island and still enjoy it even with rarely being able to get outdoors. We would certainly consider this location in the future.

beautiful home

everything was amazing, minus the shower in the main bedroom. Never got warm. Was relayed to managers, and they said it would be fixed for the next tenant as we were only there for 2 nights and had things to do, and the other showers worked fine we managed without having it repaired while we enjoyed our stay. Other than that, be ready to get your steps in. Many stairs, beautiful stairs:-)

Tybee in Grand Style

This gorgeous home on Officer's Row was even better than we expected. We loved the old house charm & character and spent many hours on the rocking chairs on the gracious front porch. I can't think of a better spot on the island to stay and we walked absolutely everywhere. We were there for Thanksgiving, so I brought lots of kitchen supplies from home, but it was completely unnecessary. This house has the best stocked kitchen I've ever seen in a rental...high quality pots & pans as well as pretty dishes in the most charming kitchen. We can't wait to come back. Lastly, the rental agency couldn't have been more wonderful to work with, so friendly, easy check-in/check-out procedures and even sent restaurant recommendations when I requested them. It is a holiday to remember for sure!

BEAUTIFUL PROPERTY GREAT BEACH ACCESS

Loved this old house and the stay was outstanding. I would stay here again but I would bring my own big non-stick pan with me. I also would bring ear plugs if you are staying in the room with the twin beds. The neighbor right next door has their sprinklers turn on at an early hour and could not go back to sleep once awake and heard them. This was the only room that heard them though so put the early risers in that room. :)

We loved being close to beach, but water and ice maker did not work the whole week. That meant many trips to buy bottled water and ice. Trash filled up in outside recycle bin and no one came to replace. Room sizes looked way bigger in pics than they are. Not the cleanest of ocean rentals.

Amazing weekdend

Rented the home for a family birthday. We had a party ranging from 2 years old to 70 and everyone loved the home. The location was great with a nearby park and access to the beach only a short walk away. I would definitely recommend exploring this home.

October 2016 Stay

Whitecaps provided the perfect ambience and location for our family to congregate. Our party consisted of 6 adults and 4 little ones. The home is breathtakingly beautiful without being fussy. Lots of natural light and very clean. We loved eating dinner outside on the wooden table next to the fire pit. Having a well-stocked kitchen made meal prep easy. Also appreciated all the extra dishes, glasses and kid-friendly dishware. Having 3 living levels, including 4 bathrooms, allows for plenty of privacy. Being able to walk directly across a quiet road to access the beach is very convenient, especially with little ones. Outdoor shower was a definite plus. The only improvements I can think of would be an option of larger tables inside/outside that would seat 10. Also, it would have been nice to be able to use the fire pit. We hope to come back and reserve this property again--amazing. Also, easy walk with the grandkids after dinner to the Sugar Shack for ice cream :).

Whitecaps' historic features are interesting, and the decorating has some charm, The kitchen is well outfitted and has nice appliances. And the bath with the the claw-foot tub was enjoyed by a few of our clan. That said, the inconveniences of a treacherous stairway to a musty basement/laundry/bedroom, inadequate and VERY inconvenient parking, a faulty shower door in master suite (leading to very slippery floors), doorknobs that tend to be lose and cranky, uneven floors throughout the house, a fire pit featured in the script/photos advertising the property but unavailable to guests, inadequate WiFi that is available basically only in living room and dining room areas ... these are the things our family will take home in our memory banks. Of the many properties we've enjoyed on Tybee, this one is certainly our least favorite and came at a hefty price for those inconveniences. Iris M.

Great Property!
