“Only overnight, but really lovely stay. Rooms are across the courtyard from the pub. Was quiet when we were there as it was a Sunday, but there had been an event the day before. Lovely areas in the pub itself, we found some wing-backed arm chairs and played one of the Scrabble games they'd provided, while we had some food and drink. Breakfast in the same area the following morning was delicious. The room was comfortable and spacious, with a basket of treats. Staff were friendly and helpful. ……

“We loved our stay at the Ancient Gatehouse. The room was lovely and looked out over the green in front of the Wells Cathedral. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the hotel has an excellent Italian restaurant, where we enjoyed a delicious dinner before walking around the lovely town of Wells. Americans should know it is not air conditioned, but air conditioning is rare in the UK and Europe. There is a fan and lovely large windows. We will definitely return.”

“We were at wedding about 10 minutes away at carden park and booked this place as it was a lot less expensive. The meadow room was spacious and cosy, the bed was very comfortable The breakfast was delicious and plenty. Would absolutely love to stay here again”

“We had a meal on the first night which was very good. Guinness pie with mash and an Angus burger. Food was served hot and was very tasty 😋 The room was clean and tidy with a big bathroom. One small issue was a loose toilet seat but it was sorted as soon as I reported it to reception. Overall a good 2 night stay. A cooked breakfast would have made the stay even better but there was a continental breakfast, fresh fruit, cereal, toast, yoghurt etc.”

“Just had a lovely little.weekend at hotel wrexham with he wife. . Lovely clean hotel and very nice savvy fox pub. Very nice place . Quiet off the beacon track but well worth the stay. We will be back 5*****”
