This 3 bed room house (twins in two rooms and king in the third) was the perfect size for our group of 5 women. There are two separate seating areas, and the large one has beautiful views of the open yard down to a small sandy oceanside beach with a rocky breakwall. We enjoyed this beautiful natural setting.
On clear days views of several ranges of snowy peaks from the Snaefelsness peninsula were visible in the distance. You really feel the open space that is Iceland. There is a grilling hut, picnic table and a hot tub available for use. The owners built the house 11 years ago, and they have an apartment on the property, so they are close by if you have any needs. They were very friendly, accommodating, and responsive without being at all intrusive. There are fluffy robes, lots of towels, and a full laundry (washer and dryer) available. The house itself is immaculately clean.
Since the owners live in the house in the winter, it is well stocked with supplies (detergent, coffee, tea, spices) and they offer all for your use. There is also Wifi. The location is close to the Blue Lagooon (about 20 minutes) and perfectly situated with proximity to both Reykjavik (about 25 minutes) and the international airport (about 25 minutes in the opposite direction). The newer Sky Lagoon, highly recommended, is about 15 minutes away.
We used this as a base to travel to Snaefelsness (one long day), the Golden Circle, Reykjavik, and the Westman Islands (highly recommended), as well as the south coast (to Vik). We only spent one night away from the house (overnight in Vik) when connecting our south coast tour to the Westman Islands.
We felt so fortunate to have found such a beautiful home base and we highly recommend it to others who are seeking a beautiful natural setting for their travels.
