“We stayed at Woodhall hotel and spa for 4 nights in the lodges. There was not much natural light entering the room and noise can be heard from the adjoining room The building could do with some refurbishment The views and gardens are beautiful The staff were really excellent and nothing was too much trouble The food was equally good with some fabulous combinations and flavours and, they have an interesting wine list, if slightly on the pricey side. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Thank you”

“Stayed in a twin room, it wasn't a large room but it was ideal for the 2 nights we stayed. Beds were comfy and we slept well.The breakfast was really good and the quality of the food was excellent. They don't do any other meals than breakfast but the hotel is in a good location just a 10 to 15 minutes walk into the shambles area if York. They also have a private car park.”

“6 people stayed in our group. Disappointing that we were charged £25 per couple for early check-in. Even as it was only 30 minutes before normal check in. Reception was not up to speed with our bookings as we had pre-paid for everything but when we checked out they got mixed up and printed bill for full amount. Until we very politely informed them. Also whilst good range of breakfast delights very slow service”

“We have stayed at least 3 times. Sandburn Hall keeps consistently high customer service and housekeeping standards. The quality of food in Tykes restaurant was also good.”

“Hotel was in a good position for going into Ripon or Harrogate. We stayed here to attend a race meeting. Rooms very clean,comfortable & tea, coffee with biscuits, nice touch. Evening meal & breakfast excellent. Staff friendly, polite & attentive. Would definitely stay here again”

“We had a big room but it needs updating. The bathroom window was frosted but it was looking on to a courtyard and the blind did not work.”

“Personal choice but didn't like the evening menu choices and breakfast was good if poached eggs were cooked better. Mine still had the clear egg slime on them. Staff were brilliant even down to the housekeeping. Room we had was really lovely, modern and a good size. Lots of space in bathroom and a great shower. Free parking was a real bonus. Really enjoyed our weeks stay at golden fleece hotel”
