We had a few issues with the room. The front door latch was hanging and missing a screw. The showers had drain covers off to the side and one of the shower knobs fell off. The TV has splotchy internet and several channels would not come through. There was no handle on the balcony door, making it difficult to get back inside. We contacted maintenance and they repaired the latch and shower knob. We found a few roaches in the room. The staff was friendly, but many did not speak or understand English. We used Google Translate to communicate. It would be nice to have more than one brand of beer (Presidente) available. Surprising that Absolut was only available to Exclusive guests. On most days, towels were on many chairs yet the guests often did not come to use the chairs until many hours later. We had to leave a day earlier than planned, as a winter storm was approaching in the US and we could have been stranded. We notified the Checkout employee two days prior to the early departure and he could have cared less. Our housekeeper was excellent and very pleasant.

We stayed at Secrets Cap Cana in a swim-out room. While we did receive a swim-out as booked, the initial room was clearly older, and the swim-out area was dark, cold, and very secluded. For us, it was essentially unusable — not the relaxing experience we expected or paid for. We raised the issue early and even offered to pay to move to a different room, but unfortunately, we weren’t relocated until day 3 of our 5-day stay, which was disappointing given the short length of the trip. That said, once we were moved, everything changed — and for the better. The new swim-out room was bright, open, and overlooked the main pool area, with bar service directly to our patio. It was sunny, lively, and exactly what we had envisioned from the start. There was no upcharge for the new room, and we truly appreciated that. Overall, the service throughout the resort was excellent, aside from the room delay. Food and drinks were good, and both the pool and beach areas were outstanding — beautiful, well-maintained, and enjoyable. Bottom line: Secrets Cap Cana is a fantastic resort with great amenities and service, but room location and condition matter. If you’re booking a swim-out, I’d strongly recommend confirming which section you’re in to avoid a similar experience. Once we were in the right room, the stay was absolutely worth it.

Staff was amazing, amenities were very clean, but our room was very rubdown compared to others in our group. Beach was lackluster due to winter seaweed everywhere. Food was 2/5 stars at most places. However the Italian Restaurant, Thalassa & Steakhouse were 4/5 stars for our group of 12. So much more to do on the family side of the resort. The entrance and lobby on the adult side did not feel special or all inclusive or make you exited. The family side entrance & lobby was gorgeous & impactful. Lots lots of selling on the beach so bring a book to not be bothered. We did 3 excursions and loved it all, but hands down La Hacienda was the best experience & pricing- even their picture package was awesome. All in all it was a great experience but the amazing staff are what make this place!
