“Clean & tidy pub with excellent rooms. Large room with double bed and shower room. Good dining in large restaurant and excellent breakfast. Would recommend the food. Staff attentive and fairly polite. Only criticism and its small, is dont serve tea in vacuum jugs at breakfast. Had to ask for tea in a teapot, which duly arrived hot and fresh. Thank you for a wonderful night ”

“Good entertainment (Friday / Saturday). Good choice of drinks, excellent position close to other eateries / pubs. Friendly staff. 3rd stay, and still impressed.”

“ Beautiful hotel that has had a lot of work done to it recently. But I was annoyed that we had to pay £5 a day on top of our hotel bill for parking in the hotel carpark. Plus the pillows were very hard & uncomfortable, & there was only one socket available to use in the room. ”

“Wonderful place with friendly staff in a beautiful location. Restaurant menu had wide selection with interesting choices. Food was very good, rooms very clean, and beds very comfortable. Large beer garden. Couldn't ask for more.”

“Room was nice and clean (except for some high altitude spider webs 😝). Only criticisms were the pump / boiler / macerator / mechanical device that was ‘kicking in’ each hour or so for a couple of minutes (felt like we were on top of it) and Biffa collecting the glass recycling at 05:30 on a Bank Holiday Monday morning…😣”

“The room was a reasonable price, just not well thought out re layout. Shower was quite mouldy and the showerhead needed a good descale. It was also a tad noisy as it was almost in the car park. Service wasn't great - quite slow, and they seemed to be struggling with the 'system' but staff were all pleasant. ”

“We stayed here for our day trip to Chatsworth House. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. We had arrived late in the night and the restaurant was closed but the staff kindly prepared us food which was delicious. The room was clean and the bathtub is great to soak in after a long day of sightseeing! ”
