Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The hotel building and interior design are lovely and the staff are excellent. However, the rooms are a little haphazard—some things don’t work (like outlets, shower doors, etc.), tired from overuse, or are missing altogether.
The room was a litlle dark onky one small window but not where the beds are.
When shower the toilet area get wet aswell.
Very well located walking out the train station and you are direct by the hotel.
Also close to the city center and vis market.
A charming hotel built long ago but modern in amenities. Conveniently situated right across from the train station which is so handy after a long day on Norway in a Nutshell trip. My only issue was noise from adjoining rooms. Our neighbor talked on the phone at 4 am waking us up both nights we stayed.
Nice location by the train station but other than that I'm not sure that the historical significance of the hotel is worth staying in a severely outdated place. The breakfast buffet was average, particularly when compared to what the Thon branded hotels offer. Add to that the extremely small rooms and a price that isn't competitive for what you get, you might want to look elsewhere.

Good size room for 3 of us, shower not good. Staff helpful & efficient. Breakfast excellent
Nice hotel, with lovely grand dining room for an evening meal. Room was more basic and dated than expected, although bathroom was modern and clean. Train station is literally opposite, so perfect to catch our train to Oslo when we departed.
I was upgraded to the Villa Terminus. It is a historic and amazing hotel annexed to the Hotel Grand Terminus.
It was a life experience that I will not forget.
Wasn’t sure what to expect after reading seversl negative reviews, but our experience was wonderful. Booked a deluxe room for just under $400 CAD and it was excellent. It was in a newer section so not sure if that made a difference or not?
The location is perfect and the breakfast that was included was really nice.
Great place to stay! Convenient, right by bus and train station. 15 minute walk to the shops and water area. Tiril -who works st the front desk was amazing! Very helpful- thank you!

Hotel looks grand but the rooms need updating. The staff on reception were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good with a variety of food options
We were in the annex. Room perfectly nice with good bathroom but bed very soft compared to what we're used to.The rooms at the back are very noisy by the road; inconsiderate guests returning late to their rooms being very loud didn't help.
Room was nice once we found ut. The directions were not great as we were booked into a villa room and we werent told that the key opened the villa and our bedroom door (unsure how safe this was). Breakfast was lovely and was surprised at how good the selection was.
Amazing 97 year old hotel! Directly across from the train station and a very short walk to the fish market area and hiking areas. It is beautiful and elegant inside. The rooms are extremely large for the area! The views are wonderful! Great breakfast which is included. You won’t be disappointed!
Tremendous hotel. Stayed overnight, wish now had been a few days. Right by the station, good communications beforehand so I knew exactly the right light rail stop.
Never seen such a comprehensive buffet breakfast selection and all included in the price!
Don’t hesitate, book it.

Great characterful hotel conveniently located next to Rail station. Pristinely clean with quirky art throughout. Rooms are quite stark in terms of decor but comfy, warm and very clean. Beautiful bar/bistro and food good in ‘high end’ oak panelled room with stained glass and eye catching bar. Breakfast menu had great choice in buffet style. No tea and coffee making facility in rooms but help yourself option in lobby area. Gym is well equipped. Umbrellas to loan to cope with the Bergen showers were much appreciated. Would have preferred UK TV option. Thank you for hosting us!
We stayed here after Radisson cancelled our stay at short notice. So glad they did! The hotel is beautiful, with a lovely 'old world' feel. The breakfast has a brilliant selection (one of the best I've had) and was always fully stocked, even towards the end. Staff are really friendly and attentive. Drinks in the bar are nice although expensive, but expected in Norway. The rooms are small (especially the bathroom) but my parents & I found it perfectly adequate for us, although would appreciate 2 pillows rather than 1 :)
