"Excellent stay at Mawamba lodge. Gardens around the ground are great and we saw sloths and Toucans a short walk from our room. Breakfast was great as was the dinner we had at the restaurant. Pool can get quite busy with families and children. Town is only a short walk away or they can provide a river taxi. Also took part in the tours arranged by the hotel which was fantastic with a very knowledgeable tour guide. Would highly recommend it visiting Tortuguero "

"This was our first time in Puerto Viejo, and we picked this place because the ratings were so awesome. And it's no surprise why! The hotel is super chill and eco-friendly, but still has all the stuff you need for a really comfortable stay.
The staff, and even the owner, are just incredibly friendly and welcoming—none of that stuffy, fake-smile vibe you get at other places. The hotel is totally off the beaten path, which we loved. It's close enough to all the restaurants and shops (like our new favorite, Cafe Rico), but far enough away that it was quiet at night. We really appreciated being less than a mile from the noisy part of town so we could just relax.
The saltwater pool and the board games in the reception area were a major plus, too. We've officially found our go-to spot in Puerto Viejo. Can't wait to come back and see you all again soon!"
