"The stay was ok. The bed was terrible it felt like two beds fixed together, one was so worn out it was like sleeping in a bath. The tv wouldn’t work correctly, only half the buttons on the remote worked so we couldn’t retune the set."

"Quick overnight stay. Lovely hotel with spacious rooms. Good breakfast with plenty of options. "

"Understaffed! Breakfast was slow and delayed and no one at reception to check us out and provide an invoice in spite of waiting 10 minutes or so. Also say they will email bar receipts which never got sent. "

"Hadn't read reviews till the night prior to arrival. Wish we had. Room wasn't clean, carpets badly stained, didn't take shoes off. Food / unknown substance all over the picture on the wall. Sealant hanging off and mouldy at base of shower. Poor maintenance regards filling of holes on the desk. The fridge had been removed from its housing and left on the floor. Mouldy smell in the dowstairs bedroom corridor. Also read that the '4 STAR' hotel only has a 3 star food hygine rating !!!!!. So even though we were booked in for 2 x nights, we decided to cut our losses and didn’t stay at the hotel and went to the Premier Inn instead. Unfortunately as we had booked on a none flexible booking basis we arenot due a refund."

"Very welcoming and we were so grateful for the home-made bread , butter , milk and eggs. Lovely and spacious lodings away from the hustle and bustle of York . Would highly recommend "

"Stayed in Room 4. Small room and ensuite bathroom. The room was clean, and there were tea and coffee facilities. There were however a number of maintenance issues, the lock on the door was loose, the rack to hang your clothes on had come loose at the top end. Looking at previous reviews these issues were picked up on a review posted two years ago. The main light would only occasionally work if you banged the light fitting (not ideal as this could be due to loose wires). Shower had very little flow and was more of a drip than a shower. We thought the nightly rate was high for the standard of the property and lack of breakfast."
