“The “marketing” photograph on Expedia was informative and true! Through the room’s window there was a beautiful view of grass in the foreground and the ocean beyond. (Even better from outside, standing on the adjacent mown grass.) The owner was friendly and helpful. It is quiet and pleasant. Nearby (a short drive) Honoka’a is a pleasant and unspoiled town with several dining choices. “What a wonderful place! Great communication with the friendly host, Darin. The grounds are spectacular, with tropical plants and a beautiful waterfall. Very quiet, and very near the Waipi'o overlook. Apartment is very clean and nicely furnished. Loved the eclectic decor! Kitchen is great, with everything you need to cook in. (You're a bit far from town, so restaurants may not be an option, and everything closes early in that part of Hawaii!). But if you want a secluded, serene island……

“This place is a great - hosts are amazing people. They are intelligent, passionate, flexible, and friendly. Sunsrise view is great. Incredibly safe environment. You really feel like you have a degree of quiet separation from the bustle of Hilo that is only a short drive away. So best of both worlds. The tradeoff is that the village access does require a short drive on unpaved roads. So prepare mentally that this is a slightly more secluded location. You get a simple but thoughtfully……
