"Old,poorly maintained hotel,plus hotel fees ridiculous"

"This was our second time staying at the Hilton Elara in Las Vegas, and unfortunately this visit was extremely disappointing. We paid a premium to stay here, tipped the pool staff, and purchased one of the expensive coolers of beer and drinks expecting to enjoy a relaxing afternoon with our two daughters, ages 2 and 4. Instead, pool staff told us our children were required to wear life jackets because it was supposedly "Nevada state law." We explained that our 4-year-old is a strong swimmer and that both children were under constant supervision. We also observed several other children, including infants, in the pool without life jackets. At one point, I briefly stepped away to use the restroom while my husband remained within arm's length of both girls in the shallow beach-entry area, which is only about one foot deep. After I returned, we continued closely supervising them. Despite both parents actively watching our daughters, staff told us we had to leave because our 4-year-old was not wearing a life jacket. After researching it, we were unable to find any Nevada law requiring children to wear life jackets in hotel pools. We fully support pool safety, but policies should be communicated clearly and enforced consistently. Being singled out while other families were allowed to remain made us feel unfairly targeted. To make matters worse, after previous stays we continue to receive constant marketing emails encouraging us to return."
