Amazing Apartment with Private Pool and Great Ocean View!

  • Located a few walking minutes from the Old Town and the center of Funchal, Quinta Esperança, a traditional house in Funchal used to be a Hotel in the past 1920s. It offers you quietness, calm and a peaceful holiday.

    With beautiful gardens, lots of fruit trees (bananas, avocates, mangos, figs) and local plants, you can enjoy the typical Madeira environment in a traditional Quinta.

    Your apartment is very private and also includes access to a private pool, besides the main pool. Besides our beautiful gardens, the balcony is also available for everyone in the Quinta to enjoy, where you have an amazing perspective of the Funchal bay!

    The pool is open all year round and during all day. Please note that last week of March 2026 the pool is under maintenance. Thank you for understanding and just sorry for the inconvenience.

    Parking is free on the road, right in front of the property. Bus stop is just there by our gate for your comfort. Walking down the road is very easy but due to steep roads, coming back better to take a bus or a taxi which is around 5€.

    The best bakery in Funchal is around the corner and also a very nice supermarket with fresh fruits and vegetables produced by locals.

This apartment was lovely and Martim was extremely helpful.The only problem for us was that the location was difficult to go to quayside as mobility is an issue. The road is steep and very few pavements Having said that the Bolt taxi service was excellent so we managed things well.

We stayed at Quinta Santa Maria Maior for a week in late April and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The property itself is stunning — beautifully maintained gardens, incredible views over the Atlantic, and a private pool that became our daily ritual. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, well-equipped, and full of thoughtful touches.The location was perfect for exploring the island: day trips to Cabo Girão, Porto Moniz, Levada walks, and Funchal’s old town were all within easy reach. Coming back to the quinta each evening felt like a reward in itself.The host was responsive, warm, and made sure everything was in order from the moment we arrived. We couldn’t have asked for a better base for experiencing Madeira. Whether you’re looking to relax by the pool or use it as a hub for adventure — this is it.We will be back.

Ein absoluter Traum über den Dächern von Funchal!„Wir haben gerade eine Woche in dieser wunderschönen Ferienwohnung verbracht und sind restlos begeistert. Die Wohnung selbst ist ein absoluter Traum, aber das Highlight ist definitiv der Garten mit diesem atemberaubenden Blick über die Dächer von Funchal.Ein riesiges Dankeschön an Martim! Seine Gastfreundschaft ist außergewöhnlich. Selbst als das Wetter mal nicht mitspielte, hatte er sofort die perfekten Tipps für die Inselerkundung parat, sodass wir jeden Tag voll auskosten konnten. Wir haben uns ab der ersten Sekunde willkommen gefühlt und kommen definitiv wieder. Absolut empfehlenswert!
