What a stunning hotel!! Great location for shopping but the hotel and its staff really were something else. Basically brand new, beautiful styling and the staff were all excellent. Can’t rate it highly enough.

Staff very friendly and accommodating
Stayed on 4th floor and only one out of two elevators working so a lot of people using stairs.
Area is up and coming but looked to a have a cluster of drug deals going on at the entrance to the bridge early evening. Perfect location for shopping.
Reception arranged table reservation and taxi to a local restaurant.
Very friendly staff in the hotel & restaurant made a birthday celebration stay an outstanding event. Would definitely recommend Virgin Hotel to anybody looking to stay in Glasgow
New hotel in the city centre
Few teething troubles mainly due to staff
training etc but will get better in time I think

Really poor overall experience.
Horrendous stay - received a voicemail mid-stay to say we had to move out the hotel as they were closing with immediate effect (mid afternoon during the 2nd day of a 3 night stay).
Knowhere near a 5* hotel though prior to this. Bottle of Vodka within the mini bar in our room had been opened and half drunk. Lipstick all over one of the glasses within the room. Flawed layout in the floor meant the shower door was always leaking on the floor (in the hall of the room).

First impression was trying to enter with our bags. The entrance is on a busy road with only a pull off across the street. So you either have to convince your taxi to stop in the middle of the busy road, or cross the road with all your luggage or walk however far from a parking lot with your luggage. Then as soon as you walk in there’s many employees to say hello; in my case I was struggling with my husbands and my own luggage bc he had to move the car off the street. Not one of the 3 employees standing out front offered to help. Then the rooms are ok. All night there was a lot of noise from the next room. Next morning we go to wait in the lobby and every single table was filthy, like the night crew forgot to clean the tables after the bar was open.
I was looking forward to the stay in this new hotel but it was really disappointing.
I know its recently finished but there is still a lot builders snagging outstanding like paint on carpets, doors not able to lock properly and other issue spotted while walking around.
The room itself isnt greatly laid out, there was some areas of the room which had thick layers of builders dust, the glasses provided in the room were dirty and useless as the mini bar is empty. The attractive smeg fridge is sitting on a shelving unit and the vibration of the fridge causes everything on the unit to vibrate and make a noise, we eventually ended up switching the fridge off. The room itself was a little dirty in places eg chocolate crumbs on sofa.
To cap it off there was a false alarm of the fire alarm at 1.30 in the morning, the staff at the time tried there best and were very polite but there was no explanation given or apology in the morning.
Few other issues as well about service and comfort not mentioned
Firstly, if you can get a room for under £100/night - fine. New. Decent food and staff are clearly enjoying themselves. However, I hate everything else about this hotel.
From the walking cliche, tartan trousered trainees that greet you, to the terrible tech in the closets that pass as rooms upstairs. This hotel was designed by a challenged child that was asked to draw Scotland from cartoon.
I paid ~£180 for the pleasure of a river view double room. Compact and bijou would be the kindest thing I could say. The room was about the size of the bed with a just enough room to swing a pigmy mouse. It was also very smug, filled with overpriced snacks and beverages in case hipsters wish to burn more excess cash (including a miniature of Buckfast). All the in-room controls are modern but cheap, with clunky tech that will age about as well as the decor. Finding a light switch in the middle of the night was just plain annoying.
I had half a window on the inner corner of the building, with a slither of the river visible. This remained visible at 8am as the curtain didn't close properly, waking me up for what was actually a decent breakfast, served in a smart mezzanine level which also provides a decent location to get some work done outside of breakfast hours.
However the mezzanine toilets are a hall of mirrors, reminiscent of the ending to Enter the Dragon. Avoid them unless you're Bruce Lee or like cheap carnival tricks.
This hotel is trying hard but won't age well.

Octobre 2023.
