"Loved the area and the sheep behind the in was a nice touch. 😍. Having a full English breakfast was a fab way to start the day. Wishes we stayed longer to have dinner there as well. Had a great sleep and would visit again."

"The views were fantastic and we all enjoyed the isolation of being so high up. The location is ideal for walking and there were many walks on the doorstep. The house is spacious with a large hilly garden. The kitchen was incredibly well equipped. Also, there were so many lovely views from the bedrooms it was hard to choose which was the best one."

"Stayed with my son overnight on our trip to climb Helwellyn. Did the climb prior to checking in, as check in was from 3pm. Asked in advance if we could use the car park upon our arrival in the morning & it was no problem. Once we checked in, the room was good with a modern ensuite, ironing board, hair-dryer and coffee facilities. All the staff were friendly with a nicely stocked bar and it was fine to book a table for our evening meal. The menu had a good choice of meat and vegetarian options. We had the burger and the homemade steak pudding, which were both filling and tasty. Just what we needed after a strenuous day climbing. Decent night's sleep, a bit of traffic noise but it is the main route throught the centre of the Lake District, so not unexpected. We left early, so didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that. Would we return? Yes."

"Awesome hotel, fabulous location right on the bank of the lake, very tranquil would definitely recommend for a chilled break away. Staff are very friendly and attentive and breakfast is wonderful."

"I have nothing to compare it with as this is my first experience of youth hostels in 40 years. I was impressed. I loved the open area, bar and restaurant. The dormitory was excellent. Beds were well spaced, ample plug sockets, mattress & pillows excellent. Clean sheets and super mattress. The bed was as good as any 5 star hotel. Honestly. The shower was clean but a little small. The facilities in the kitchen were good but some of the pans had loose handles. The staff clearly clean but somehow not all guests have the same standard. Value for money ? Amazing. Staff were excellent and friendly. Its a top review and I will go back."
