"Definitely the best decision to change our booking (for 03 families) to Suminoyu Ryokan as the overall stay was a superb one right from the start. It was also a 2nd time stay in this ryokan for one of us. Lady proprietor greeted us warmly outside the ryokan after we had parked our cars and her team immediately sprang into action welcoming and helping us with the bags and parking. "Lovely accomdation. It is a bit dated but charming and clean. Has everything we needed. Perfect for accessing the mountain. Meals were excellent. Onsen was good and open 24/7. Staff is friendly. "

"Very accommodating, excellent service and excellent room. Our room had our own tiny hot spring bath so it was really cool. Also the owner is super friendly, we left our luggage there before check in and they helped us carry it up into our room. It's about 8 min walk to Yubatake (aka the center Kusatsu tourist area). Facility wise, they have free coffee and water, the owner even gave us milk as present 😊 they also have a super cool game room where they have japanese (childhood?) games."
