“We did have some checking in issues - we didn’t receive a key box code and had to ring the host at midnight. We found it quite hard to reach the host in the days leading up to the booking.”

“All the staff went over an above to make our stay really relaxing and enjoyable. Nothing was to much trouble. Good ol fashioned service, for us it has set the benchmark that others will be judged by.”

“In the centre of Abergavenny, a great place to spend time in the town, or use as a base for exploring the area in a very special hotel”

“Over all we had a great three night stay. Very friendly staff, good accommodation and location. Our only criticism was that when we ate in the restaurant one evening and had breakfasts the food wasn’t hot and the plates hadn’t been heated.”

“thank you”

“A very good multiple choices of breakfast, follow staff's instructions, we got free parking near side for three days. Like most hotel in Wales this hotel also act like restauranter, pub, and hotel. The staff are so friendly, willing to take extra effort to help us out. We even like this town's living so much, wishing to come back in the future. TO LIVE.”

“This hotel has great staff and plenty of options for food within walking distance My only moan is the rooms that are at the back facing the road get a lot more traffic noise than the front Especially loud motorbikes at 2am going past”

“Quirky property, lovely log fire, helpful staff. Good food. Dogs very well catered for. Would have preferred a groundfloor room, which was originally allocated, but ended up in a first floor room. Lot of noise from heavy traffic at the rear of the property which can be heard in the room”

“Loved this spot! Even without the AC! Such a good overnight spot”

“Beautiful location. Great breakfast.”

“it was alright”

“Wonderful accommodations in a most beautiful part of our world. The building is very old and this is not perfect. For us it was perfect. An excellent breakfast each morning and dinner and pints in the evening. Plenty to see nearby. We look forward to visiting again.”

“Clean rooms, great instructions to enter the parking lot, great hot breakfast, hopefull hosts”

“We had a very enjoyable stay. Ann & Baratt were great hosts. Good location for visiting Monmouth.”

“Great welcome easy check in and friendly team 😁. We arrived late after a long drive - the venue is an old pub with rooms. We navigated our way to the top floor room. As we arrived Halloween weekend we thought the dust and cobwebs in the room were part of the theme. 👻 The carpet around the bed and doors hadn’t been hoovered for months. A layer of dust was on all the light fittings and cobwebs everywhere - bed and pillows weren’t great and we could hear the noise from the high street, boy……

“Lovely stay at the Bear. Food was excellent and the room clean. Staff were very helpful. Always enjoy my visit.”
