Beware: Host Mislead and Scammed Us out of our Refund!

We were looking for a nice place to host friends that was close to a conference we were attending. It was critical that we be close to the hotel, as you know how LA traffic can be.We find out at check out that the ADDRESS WAS MISLISTED on the site to attract guests, and was a bait and switch that was over half an hour away and would’ve ruined our itinerary. This is not something that should be tolerable in any case, but in LA it’s inexcusable as 30 mins can turn into an hour in a heartbeat.We explained to the host we needed to cancel due to the location being misleading, and they abruptly said “tell VRBO I gave you a 100% refund and cancel.” And literally hung up the phone without giving us a chance to speak.We scrambled, ended up booking a place for the same night, and then later on went to cancel the stay and get our refund.The host then told us we had only 24 hours to do this, and because we didn’t do it within the time window, they would only grant a 50% refund which we have still not received. We escalated to VRBO and they said that the refund amount was at the host’s discretion.Please do yourself a favor and find another place. There are plenty of hosts with integrity on this site—though I would be checking other options first as they tend to handle things with deference to the customer instead of devious hosts.I’ve reached out to the host many times to have this done right and would happily amend this interview if they would. But I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Great Find!

My friends and I had an amazing stay at this Hollywood townhouse! The place was clean, modern, and well-equipped with everything we needed. Comfy beds, fast WiFi, a fully stocked kitchen, and free parking made it super convenient. The location was prime and close to everything we had planned for the week, and a bonus was being able to see the Hollywood sign from the balcony. No complaints at all—we would definitely stay here again!
