Peace & tranquility next to the Douro River

Our family had the most wonderful 10 days at Adalberto’s beautiful house in the Douro Valley. The location is truly stunning and the house provided everything we needed for a very relaxing holiday. Adalberto is the most welcoming of hosts, he was there on our arrival to explain everything we needed to know, and telephoned during our stay to check that we were ok. We would thoroughly recommend the house to anyone, which enabled us to completely de-stress and provided a fantastic base to explore the area. We would love to come back some day.

Idyllic place to relax

Such a magical place to stay! We spent 11 days at Adalberto and Paula’s place and enjoyed every second there. The view of the river is gorgeous, the pool is top quality. The grounds are splendid and the home tastefully appointed. Adalberto and Paula met us and walked us through what we needed to know about the home and then returned mid visit to check up on us and clean the home during our stay. The kitchen is well appointed for those who like to cook, as we do. The location allowed us to explore the lovely Douro Valley and hike, kayak and wine taste. The village 25 min away is perfect for supplies. There are mosquitos at night and no screens so we relied on A/C and closed up the home in the evening. And if you bring more than two to stay there is a substantial guest fee for this two bedroom. Our only note of caution! A relaxing and calming place to enjoy rural Portugal. Delightful and memorable stay.

Een prachtige plek voor mensen die op zoek zijn naar ultieme rust.

Huis aan het eind van een onverharde weg, met mooi uitzicht over de Douro. Een bijzonder stuk grond tot aan de rivier nodigt met mooi weer uit tot onderzoek en wandelingen. We hadden de pech geen goed weer te hebben; iedere dag veel regen, mist. Dan is het minder plezierig, maar dat geldt uiteraard voor iedere plek. Het huis toont zich met een somber weertype behoorlijk donker. Het comfort, de voorzieningen zijn voldoende aanwezig. Met de eigenaar is een plezierig contact geweest. Hij heeft gastvrijheid hoog in het vaandel. Kortom, met mooi weer is dit huis een prima plek om te verblijven.

ein stück vom paradies im dourotal

adalbertos grosszügiges terrassiertes anwesen und darin sein sehr besonderes haus ist ein eindrückliches erlebnis. er hat beides mit grosser sensibilität in die umgebende natur eingefügt. der blick von der terrasse hinunter zum douro war immer wieder zauberhaft. das von ihm entworfene haus verbindet perfekte funktionalität mit feinem stil, und immer wieder freuten wir uns über gestalterische details. wir, vier freunde aus berlin und köln, fühlten uns hier zehn tage lang vollkommen wohl. adalberto nahm sich bei der begrüssung viel zeit und fragte immer wieder telefonisch nach unserem wohlergehen und wünschen. wir danken ihm sehr herzlich für diesen ausgesucht schönen ort. detlev und penelope, kyra und walter.

A beautiful house in a beautiful location

We had a fantastic holiday at Adalberto's lovely house on the Douro. The house nestles into the hillside almost hidden from the river, with restored terraces above and below. The house was clean and well equiped. We swam and kayaked in the river, it surpassed any pool I have been in. In the evening the river often became still and you could see fish feeding, herons on the bank and then bats flitting around the trees. Adalberto was a very attentive host and phoned several times to ensure that we were comfortable. The house is about 20 minutes from Marco de Canaveses, from where you can catch trains to Porto or up to the port producing regions of the upper Douro.

Casa linda num lugar maravilhoso

Beautifully located house on the Douro river. House is comfortable and offers everything you need. Owner (and architect) of the house welcomed us in person, and made us feel at home right away. We will definitely come back.

Unique place, sophisticated architecture

We spent some wonderful days at Adalberto‘s house. It really is a unique place we immediately felt in love with. Moreover, the architecture of this house is very sophisticated. Adalberto is a great host, very friendly and to get in touch with him was always easy and valuable. We‘ll be back for sure.
