“Tired, run down. Did make me slightly nostalgic I suppose, remembering the 1980s with the food and decor. The very few Staff that were there (if you could find them) were lovely, but I couldn’t overcome the feeling that the place had been deserted and left to rot. Breakfast near inedible but evening meal was ok. Nonetheless, not terrible value for money.”

“This was our first time staying at a hotel that wasn't staffed. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The accommodations were very modern. Plenty of hot water. Easy access to both train and bus stations. Walking distance to a variety of restaurants and grocery stores. Quiet. We didn't hear street noise. Stairs are steep, as others have noted. “The host was very responsive and helpful and sadly that is as far as our positives go. The flat smelt of damp and stale cigarette smoke. We were unable to get any hot water in the shower. As a result of this, and many other flaws, my family and I ended up leaving a day early.”

“The room smells clean as you come in, always a great start. Spotlessly clean. Rooms are ensuite with a little kitchen area, all decorated differently. We had a little table to eat at as well. Chocolates and home made Welsh cakes with milk in the fridge was a nice touch. Self check in with a pin code key box. Building felt secure. Great views of the hills from the top room. Street parking available just outside the front door. A couple of convenience stores very close. Great location for visiting……

“The accommodation was spotlessly clean, cosy and modern. Everything we needed for a long weekend away, the welsh cakes and fresh milk we found on arrival were a fantastic welcome. The car park was a stones throw away and very reasonably priced. We will definitely book again.”

“I was going to visit the Brecon Mountain Railway and I needed somewhere close by to stay for the night. Luckily, I chose the Butchers Arms. The room was lovely and clean and the bed very comfortable. The food was filling and tasty and I had breakfast looking across to the start of the Brecon Beacons. The beer was wonderful especially the Butty Bach (little friend in Welsh). ”
