I have stayed in this hotel many times with my friends, but every time the hotel staff repeatedly charged the parking fee, which was completely fraudulent. What was even more egregious this time was that the restaurant service staff changed the fee without authorization and overcharged.

The perfect coastal escape for locals who want an oceanfront experience without a long drive. This hotel feels like a “training cruise”—you’re still on land, but completely immersed in the sound and presence of the ocean. Although the property sits along the main road and is conveniently close to top attractions like the Monterey Bay Aquarium, the oceanfront side is an entirely different world. Step out back and you’re transported into a peaceful, almost surreal beachfront setting. Highlights include the magical and romantic Lantern Room restaurant on the fourth floor, complete with a cozy wood-burning fireplace, and the stunning glass-walled lobby with a massive fireplace overlooking the ocean. The modern bar and the unique self-service wine machine—where you can pour one or two glasses daily as part of the resort fee—add a fun and upscale touch. The nightly “marshmallow box” treat is a 10/10, especially thanks to the high-quality chocolate. Dining at the Lantern Room (breakfast and dinner at additional cost) is a must, especially for the breads and pastries sourced from a well-known local bakery in downtown Monterey. The beachfront rooms are worth it—especially on upper floors for safety and views. The experience strongly echoes a cruise vibe: endless ocean views, the soothing sound of waves, and a long stretch of beach perfect for walks. It’s easy to spend days without leaving the property, fully unplugging and and resetting mentally. Amenities are a solid 10 out of 10

This hotel is the only in Monterey area situated right on the endless sand beach. The hotel has everything to enjoy a luxury stay: pool, jacuzzi, sauna and cold plunge, great lounge with fireplace and panoramic windows to the bay, complementary wine, very friendly staff. Our most favorite place to stay.

I recently stayed at Monterey Beach Resort for two nights, and all I can say is wow! I hadn’t been there in several years, and the upgrades are incredible. From the in-room fridge and coffee bar to the added seating area, everything felt modern and thoughtfully designed. One of my favorite touches was the heated outdoor area facing the beach—perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view. I also loved the complimentary two glasses each night, which was a really nice added touch. The room itself was amazing, and the location is just as beautiful as I remember. It’s only a short walk to the beach, making it ideal for a peaceful getaway. Overall, a wonderful and perfect stay. I’ll definitely be coming back!

We had a wonderful stay! The only downside for us was that the ocean view rooms do not have a balcony. The rooms have a giant window looking at the ocean but there is a walkway that walks along the front of all the rooms so you see everyone walking by and they can see into your room as well when they walk by. The property also charges $60 for parking on top of the resort fee which is insane. The parking should be included with your stay. Other than that the stay was wonderful and the beach location was beautiful and quiet! We enjoyed our wine and smores by the bonfire pits.

Overall we enjoyed our stay very much. My children had the best time, and the views are unmatched. Service left room for improvement: just little things here and there, but the little things matter. Dinner was delicious and the drink selection was great.

I recently stayed at this hotel and overall had a really nice experience. The property itself is beautiful, clean, and well-maintained. One of the best parts is definitely the location—the beach being right there makes it super convenient and adds a lot to the stay. It’s a great spot if you’re looking to relax and enjoy the ocean.That said, there were a few things that felt misleading. The hotel advertises certain amenities as being included, but that’s not really the case. Things like the bikes and the “wine wall” are labeled as free, but they actually deduct a daily fee from your deposit to cover them. So you’re essentially paying for these “included” amenities whether you use them or not, which wasn’t clearly explained upfront.Another downside was the parking. They charge $50 per day, which already feels excessive, and the “in and out privileges” they mention honestly just seem like a way to make the fee sound better than it is. It doesn’t really add value for the price you’re paying. What was most frustrating, though, was the customer service after I noticed these charges. When I called to ask about it, the person I spoke to was rude and dismissive. She interrupted the conversation and essentially ended the call by saying there was nothing she could do and “bye,” which was pretty unprofessional.Overall, it’s a nice place to stay, especially for the beach access, but just be aware of the extra costs and lack of transparency, along with the customer service experience

The vanity in th eroom is tiny. The couch very uncomfortab le. There was no view to speak of even though a large part of what we paid for was the view. The towels were uncomfortable. Check in was at 4:00 pm precisely even though we had been offered early check in. The breakfast was not included. The bar was super expensive. Overall, not to be repeated!
