「I recently spent five nights here (mid July) while solo hiking Volcanoes National Park (30 minutes away) and exploring the Hilo area. I would totally stay here again by myself or with my significant other. This was a beautiful and fun compliment to spending all day outside - being screened in and protected from the rain, but otherwise immersed in outdoor Hawaii. The garden is beautiful, and the property felt very private and safe to me. The outdoor shower was nice and hot - perfect after a...

「Think of it as luxury camping and you'll be happy. If your idea of comfort is umbrella drinks by the pool, you will not. Personally, I loved it. But it's not for everyone.
This is a rustic cabin in the jungle. 4.5 miles off the main road, 2.2 miles of it is dirt (well maintained, regular cars not a problem). 15 minute drive to nearest civilization (the part of the description being in the middle of a historic town is inaccurate - it's 7 miles outside a historic town). There are 4 walls,...

「My 10 year old daughter's favorite out of the 4 places we stayed, and I agree. Clean, affordable, and so charming, Tons of fruit trees and flowers, beautiful property. Great balance between eco friendly and comfortable. Guests are asked to conserve power (as location is solar powered and the location sometimes has long stretches of rain), but still great wifi, powerful fan, shampoo and body wash in the shower and a high water pressure endless hot shower. The fairy lights directing the way to...

「Lemon Tree Lanai is an excellent place for vacationers who want a real Hawai'i rain forest experience without a lot of hype and "club-med" type extras. It's a bit rustic, but clean, with beautiful flowery grounds. comfortable and convenient. The lucky geckos are a plus, visiting every evening to take care of any bugs on the lanai that might have slipped in the screen. The host is excellent, very friendly and helpful although you won't see him much after checking in. The check in process was a...

「Volcano house was absolutely amazing! The only thing I'm sad about is that I didn't leave more time in our trip to enjoy every element of our stay there! We have stayed at a lot of places....Hawaii marks our 50th state visiting as a family, and I didnt expect how much Volcano house would literally be an attraction in itself. Joshua was wonderful. He gave us clear instructions of how to find the home, and I was so thankful for his advice of where to eat in the evening for our late evening...

「We absolutely loved our stay here. It’s peaceful, private, and truly feels like an off‑grid escape in the best way. The natural‑resource power setup worked beautifully — the A/C kept the space cool, and the hot water in the shower was perfect every time.
One big tip for future guests: follow the host’s directions exactly. Do NOT rely on GPS the way we did on our first drive in. The road the host recommends is paved and easy. The parallel road the GPS tried to send us down was not paved and made...

It's a good thing i wake up around 5am because there's a Brahma (seemed like it) rooster next door that helps with the wake up process, hehehe. No need to set your alarm on your phone. The place was breezy once I opened all the windows. Truly a Hawaii experience. Thank you host!」
