“We needed a place near volcano park and this property filled the bill. I really should have read the information provided by the host to understand the self-check in process. (Multiple messages from all our stays overwhelmed me) Once we squared that away, we found dinner and brought it back to the room and settled in. The night sounds in the forest were great. My only suggestion is the steps be lit up for arrivals after dark.”

“Stayed at Cabin Kai 4 (Dec 26–30, 2025). Affordable and located in a beautiful, peaceful area with free parking, water, and Wi-Fi (weak). Major concern: No window coverings for the floor-to-ceiling bathtub window or windows above the bed and coffee bar, resulting in serious privacy issues while bathing and sleeping. This was very uncomfortable. Remote location (45 minutes from Hilo); a car is required. No cellphone reception. No nearby restaurants or shops. Towels were not very clean, and……

“Overall good location with good amenities. However, all of the pillows (2 for sleeping) provided are too soft and not firm enough. Bed sheets’ thread count is very low which in combination leads to uncomfortable sleeping conditions. Otherwise, solid.”

“Jeff was a kind host, The land was absolutely Beautiful, fully equipped kitchen, nice rooms though Eye stayed in the tent which Eye enjoyed. It gets pretty hot and there during the day and very cool at night. Less than a minute drive from my favorite clothing optional beach. Eye really enjoyed my stay. The hot tub was nice, the bath tub was lovely and the outside showers. The only issue Eye saw was that the inside shower curtain had quite a bit of mold on it but besides that everything was……

“This was amazing! Great staff, great location AND there's even a swimming hole (5 min walk, if that) with a waterfall! I've never stayed in a shared house before, but this one has spoiled me! It's close enough to be able to drive to all the good tourist spots. Oh, and hopefully you're there for the "big" farmers market on Saturdays. If I get back to the Big Island I'll be coming back here! Thank you for the great time!”
