"The property was spotless, I was very impressed. The food was good, the waiters/waitresses were hospitable. Unfortunately, I was charged twice for my meal. It charged to my room and my debit card (I explained I wanted my debit card charged not the card on file for the room). I had to get one of the charges canceled. I was given a resort gift card but when I tried using it, I was told I could not. I have no idea how I’ll be able to use it since it was supposed to be for outrigger locations. Lastly there was a leak in the wall which we went to the registration desk to inform them. The young lady never sent anyone to look. After two hours we called maintenance, the gentleman that answered sent someone. They said we would need to be relocated. They upgraded the room to a suite for our troubles. I truly appreciated that. The pools were wonderful, they even had an adult only side. The views on the property were beautiful. Overall, my mom and I enjoyed the trip, it was quite relaxing."
"Excellent experience save for the ginormous cane/huntsman spider found in our bedroom that has crawled in through a large hole in the ceiling. Staff were very prompt in spraying the area as well as filling the hole the next day. We chose to sleep in the living room the rest of our stay since the spider had disappeared before we were able to get rid of it and we're not sure if it went back up through the home or was hiding in the bedroom but the pullout couch luckily wasn't too bad to sleep on, just wish we could've slept more comfortably and been less scared as both my husband and I are scared of spiders let alone ones as huge as a 2+ fist-size spider."
"Parking was easy, but my room was a bit dirty upon arrival with spider webs and literal dust on things. There was a dehumidifier but it was empty and I couldn't figure out how to fix it. They were supposed to come pick up my registration so I thought they'd fix the humidifier then (80% humidity in the room) but no one ever came. The free amenities they have in the guest supply is just one very bad shampoo and a little bar soap (which was okay). The kitchen is very minimal and has nothing to label your items with.
I never came across another guest in the property, but I know they were there because doors would open/closer.
Very great location, but there are many many options in this town where you may get better amenities with an actual host that would prepare and care for your room"
"Our stay at Gingerhill Farm Retreat was a unique and grounding experience. We stayed in the Bamboo cabin with an outdoor kitchen, shower, and sink, all supplied with propane and warm water, along with a clean compost toilet. The space was designed as an open lanai, allowing for natural cross-ventilation. We never needed the fan.
The cabin was surrounded by lush vegetation, with the sounds of the jungle creating a vivid atmosphere at night and in the early morning. The common areas include a terrace overlooking the ocean beyond the tree line, offering beautiful sunset views.
The staff was attentive and supportive throughout our stay. We also had the honor of meeting the owner, Ms. Mayumi Oda, often referred to as the “Matisse of Japan,” whose vision promotes healthy living and environmental awareness.
This experience offered a rare balance between natural living and everyday comfort. It felt less like a stay and more like an immersion into a different way of being."
"It was advertised as a charming room with a view of a Japanese garden and koi pond. We found it no better than a low budget motel with a poorly maintained pond and a dead fish floating in it. The "kitchen" was adequate with a small counter set much too high, a tiny coffee maker, microwave and a mini fridge. There was an ice tray provided in the refrigerator but was useless because it leaked through multiple cracks. The shower also had a large buildup of hair in the drain cover."
