“We loved the house and the farm setting overlooking the ocean. Josh was extremely helpful in showing us around and getting us settled. We didn't take advantage of the beautiful kitchen, but we might have done so over a longer stay. Bed and bathroom are spacious and comfortable with lots of natural light. Once we figured out how to divide our time with the cats on the veranda rocking chairs, it worked out well for them and us. ”

“Breakfast was not free - had to pay for so I didn’t get it. The ocean wasn’t close-it was a view from afar-still pretty. The place was located on a farm! It is nothing like the description!”

“The host was excellent. Breakfast was handy. Location was perfect (was able to see an early morning eruption- 5 minutes to the park!) Room was large and comfortable. Lots of resources and books on site. Fridge for lunch/food and kitchen to cook if needed (reasonably stocked). Volcano is colder than Hilo - bring a jacket/sweater. Close to all the little local (delicious) restaurants. Volcano Forest Inn has seen better days. Place really need a deep clean and fresh paint in a few places. Hard to……

“There was bugs everywhere. Thankfully they let us switch to another property.”

“The breakfast was great and people are so nice there.”

“Everything is clean, but smells and is old. Our room was tidy and well cleaned but there was a musty smell that lasted the whole time we were there. Definitely needs new sheets and a new bed as it was very solid (felt cheap). Otherwise a very cute common area. There are 4 rooms with others staying there, so just not great for introverts. Also don’t bank on breakfast, buy food from Costco, there is a small section in the fridge where you can store your food. Long term, not the easiest stay. For……
