This hotel is in a good location for those visiting the city. I saw The Late Show at the Ed Sullivan theater and that was close by. The hotel was in rough shape. There was a dumpster out front for trash from renovations, that was off putting. The condition was clearly dated. A once beautiful building is now pretty run down. The room was in rough shape, the carpet was stained, the entertainment center was really weathered and had fresh sticky paint. There was a loose wire sticking out of the air conditioning unit. The fridge furniture door was broken and leaning down and open. The curtains were worn. The shower curtain had tears. The shower head was busted and leaked everywhere. The faucet handles hit the wall when you turned them. The toilet paper was sand paper doubling as toilet paper. I was pretty bummed for the price. I won't stay here again. The staff was pretty good. They were obviously employees who had been there for a very long time. Some were clearly jaded and the bartenders in particular were unwelcoming. The food was pretty bad, I do not recommend at all. If you're desperate order something. Overall, barely average. Would not recommend until they address the above.

The location of The Michelangelo is perfect for theatre goers, dining, & Central Park. No doubt about it. The staff was very pleasant, especially the doormen. The property itself has seen better days. Our room was a bit shabby. The carpet was old with visible stains, the bathroom sink had a large crack, and the painted surfaces were chipped with poor repairs. Just too dated & worn for the price.

You couldn’t find a better place to stay in mid-town. Close to everything and a lovely hotel. Quiet, elegant, great service. We have stayed here several times and it never disappoints. Great restaurants and sites in walking distance too.

Our stay at the Michelangelo was outstanding. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. Just walking into the lobby lets you know that you are in a quality place. We never did not feel special. The room was very clean. There were some cosmetic issues in the room (loose shower plate, broken desk drawer, etc.), but nothing that impacted our stay. If you are going to NYC to see a Broadway show I 100% recommend the Michelangelo, it's location and quality is excellent.

My recent stay at this hotel was highly disappointing and fell far short of even basic expectations for cleanliness, maintenance, and service. Upon check-in, the front desk staff member was noticeably rude and dismissive, offering no assistance or warmth despite my simple requests. This set a negative tone from the start. (The manager I spoke to later was kind and apologetic, which was the only bright spot in an otherwise poor experience.) The entire property feels extremely outdated – both the common areas and the guest rooms. The decor, furnishings, and overall infrastructure appear to have received no updates in decades, giving the hotel a tired and neglected atmosphere. Several practical issues made the stay uncomfortable: • The in-room telephone was completely non-functional, so I could not reach the front desk for any assistance. • Housekeeping standards were unacceptable. I found two old, dirty socks left behind the bed, which suggests the room was not thoroughly cleaned (or even properly inspected) before my arrival. • Hot water was barely functional – it was lukewarm at best and inconsistent, making showers unpleasant.

The room was clean, but extremely shabby. Peeling paint around the doorways, peeling caulk around the tub, cracked tiles in the bathroom, very, very old carpet in the bedroom and hallways. No tea/coffee maker in the room. My view was of the office building directly next door, so no natural light in the room. The staff were very nice. The location is good if you're seeing a show on Broadway. This is not a luxury 4 star hotel as advertised.

This was by far the best hotel experience I've ever had. The room was absolutely amazing; spacious, beautifully designed, spotlessly clean, and incredibly comfortable. The staff went above and beyond; they were genuinely friendly, attentive, and super helpful with every request, making the whole stay feel welcoming and personalized. Room service was excellent too. The only drawback was the inconsistent bar hours. It seemed the bar didn't typically open until the evening, which unfortunately coincided with when most of my events and plans were scheduled, so we weren't able to take full advantage of it or use our included credits. A bit more daytime or flexible access would have made it perfect. Overall, though, the positives far outweighed that one issue. Highly recommend this place and can't wait to return!
